If I have a trooper that has the ability of Fire Support Mission given to him by Veers Hologram but my opponent has based my character...will I be able to do a fire support mission on ANY enemy within line of sight (not just the enemy basing my character)...and not forced to target the guy adjacent? Since its not an attack? And if this is true are there other scenarios that follow this logic like Light Saber Throw that just uses line of sight for attacking or would light saber throw follow the same rules for targeting legal targets?

LS Throw follows targeting rules, and while I haven't looked at the text for FSM carefully (or at all, in awhile), I would assume it does too. Even characters with Accurate Shot have to target adjacent enemies, so I think that would override it anyway.

Glossary Text: Using this special ability is not an attack and does not require an attack roll. You cannot target an empty square with Fire Support Mission.

This is my reason for asking.

Fire Support Mission follows targeting rules. It just ignores cover when choosing a target. Adjacency still forces you to target that character.

In general, "sight" is a range, not a targeting rule.

I believe the Line of Sight aspect is for the purpose of targeting, but its still targeting. It just remove the "closest target or any target without cover" restriction. So in the case that you are based, targeting rules still apply, and you must target the adjacent character or find a way to get a square away.

Targetting rules pretty much always apply unless specifically said otherwise.

Correct, but targeting and attacks are not one in the same. Though it is not an attack, it uses the targeting rules, just like many other mechanics that are special abilities and not attacks (missiles, grenades, etc).

The restriction "closest target or any target without cover" is not removed. It's just that cover is removed so that every enemy now has no cover. Thus, every enemy is a legal target... assuming no one is adjacent. And with the exception of Invisibility or Phantom Menace or anything weird like that.
