So I just ran the numbers, and according to Bloo Milk, there are 1,298 individual (non-custom, no-reprint) characters in the SWM roster. When I filter by "female", there are 170 characters. That means only 13% of the SWM universe (including V-sets) is female. I MEAN WTF. Let's get a little more creative, folks. The sex ratio on Earth is pretty much 1:1, so certainly a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was a better proportion of ladies to gents.

To be fair, there are 165 its. That still means 925/1298 are male (so about 70%). I'm sure it's more about a predominance of males in the source material than anything. For example, in http://www.empireonline.com/features/30-star-wars-characters , which was the first thing that came up on Google, there were two female characters in a list of 30.

I, for one, do not think we need more female representation in pure numbers because the females we have are good enough that they are seeing/dominating play. Sure the ratio is extremely skewed to one side, but the effectiveness of the females are high enough to where at a tournament you can see just as many female's central to a squad as males. Admiral Daala, Zam Wessel, Mara Jade, Jedi, Aura Sing/Ventress with Cad Bane, Bastilla, Satele, Arica, jareal, leia, queen Amidala. Although I would love a nice Shaak Ti to use.

I do agree, it is probably a predominance of males in source material. Just look at a list of the members on the Jedi Council (Republic, New Republic, or Old Republic era) and the source of the issue becomes clear. Alternatively, look at a list of prominent Sith Lords, and the issue also is obvious.

What's the ratio from V-Set to WotC pieces? What is the criteria for "female" beyond the visible, obvious means? Most generic, living pieces can be indeterminate. Seems to be much ado about nothing as this game really doesn't identify gender outside of the obvious, physical form.

yeah, like deaths baine saide some of the most powerful characters in the game are female.
Daala, Morrigan Corde, Bastilla, Mon Mothma, Stale Shan, Mara Jade, princess leia, Assajj, Arica.
Perhaps there arn't as many made, but proportionally they represent ok.
