Vangaurd's CE: Allied Old Republic soldiers and troopers are treated as having the same name as each other, only for purposes of special abilities whose name contains Squad.
Allied Old Republic soldiers and troopers within 6 squares gain Squad Cover (+4 Defense while 3 allies with the same name as this character are within 6 squares).
Aric Jorgan's CE: Old Republic soldiers and troopers within 6 squares gain Squad Firepower.
The Vanguard has the generic Trooper ability, Aric Jorgan has Soldier, which lets him count as an Old Republic Soldier.
Let's say you have a squad with two Vanguards, Aric Jorgan, and an Old Republic Soldier. Jorgan has Squad Firepower and gives it to both Vanguards and the Soldier. The Vanguards give each other and everyone else Squad Cover. Vanguard A makes Aric Jorgan, Vanguard B, and the OR Soldier count as having the same name. Vanguard B makes Aric Jorgan, Vanguard A, and the OR Soldier count as having the same name. Assuming that they are standing in a line (and therefore all within 6 squares of each other), do Squad Cover and Squad Firepower kick in? And perhaps the better question to ask: do Squad Cover and Squad Firepower kick in
for all four of them?Anyone who can make sense of what I just said gets 10 points.
