I'm reading about SWM pretty much for the first time in two years and things seem different. Mandos won Gencon, Daala was so good that she got nerfed (and Poggle hasn't...), and a squad that looks like seven pieces chosen at random from the fringe section won a regional.
So far my tentative conclusions are:
Karrde Republic Commando swarm with ten million CEs and SEs Daala is still pretty good maybe? Durge on bike rules New Zealand Commando droids Sweet merciful God, 114 point Krayt won a regional?!
Not to mention these new senator pieces that might do nothing or might completely bork your squad concept. You step outside for just a moment...

Oh yeah, those guys. Tantive IVs are still a thing, and I5/Roan Lands might make a competitive squad now. At least tier 2. But they do seem to be at or near the bottom.

The Regionals so far this year have seen relatively low activations and less Jedi hate - I don't know if it's for meta reasons or an effort to play more fun squads.
Still haven't seen the Mando Neo-Crusader cannon yet - is it because of all the super stealth around?

Just because there are so many other options, probably. There are probably 20+ viable squad types. And more being discovered... see Jason's Krayt squad.

Thrawn is still lurking around the outer rim waiting to strike. Boba/Thrawn + tech won in New Zealand. I think that's probably a good counter to most things.
Your Lancer tech might still be good, Graham.

They just have to get beyond the one trick of killing a bunch of your own dudes for machine gun terror. They are still VERY good. They just will be used more as a defensive piece (or rather a counter-strike piece) as opposed to an offensive boost.

It was the funniest way to lose a game, made even funnier consuming beer.

But I wouldn't expect to see a full squad of them again. 4-8 would still be reasonable.
