it's been 5 years, we'd like to know, how and why Dean stole the money for V-set 1?

Haha, not that I know of. Nor the $700 from GenCon 2010 that he kept for himself. I still have the PMs from him saying my $500 was in the mail....

Dan do you remember Jon's "Dean Stole my Money" squad. It had me rolling at the time.

I don't remember what the squad was, but I would never forget that squad name.

I vaguely remember the event. I never heard the squad name before. I just did and smiled :)
I remember having pretty mixed feelings after it.

I don't know all the details of the V-set 1 money, but what I heard is that he collected the Kickstarter money (set 1 was funded through Kickstarter) but then didn't pay for the sets, instead he just pocketed the money.
As for the GenCon prizes, he owed me $500 and Brandon Pyle (the guy who came in 2nd) $200 in prize money. He gave me the runaround for a few months saying that he hadn't gotten the money from GenCon yet from the event ticket sales which were supposed to pay for those prizes, and eventually I just stopped hearing from him altogether. I was 21 years old and in college and it wasn't really worth it to try to go to small claims court, especially because there were still people defending him at the time and I thought that it would create a lot of bad blood in SWM, so I just didn't worry about it.
Clearly, he hasn't been a part of the community since.

I fail to see a reason for continuing to bring this topic up. Whatever happened, happened. If anyone other than Dean knows the truth about what happened, they aren't saying. Anything else is hearsay or speculation, other than funds disappeared.
Time to move on.
p.s. - Engineer owns SWMGamers now.
