I have somewhat fallen out of SWM. Just not anyone around me who plays anymore, and i've found some new friends into X-Wing. Yet I still lurk here from time to time.

Seems like the majority of the posts here are for errata, requesting modifications to more pieces, and discussing the problems with melee and how to fix them, phasing out older v-sets, etc. Now, the game has had people demanding changes since I started playing in A&E, but this feels different somehow, maybe the arguments feel more justified?

I am wondering how people feel about the game right now. Is it about to undergo some sort of major change? Or am i miss-perceiving the current situation due to my absence from the scene?

After SWM has thrilled you, it always tempts you back. The non tournament events at GenCon fill up quickly and are always well attended. During the championship, lots of former players drop by curious to see what's happening and if people are still playing. Most of us try to be good ambassadors for the game, but it can be really annoying having people asking you questions and picking up your pieces while in the middle of a match!

Finding games does depend on ease of access to the game and having opponents to play. Those are issues that have been discussed to death since Wizards dropped the game. Plenty of great ideas have been suggested and more needs to be done. But still there remains a loyal group of dedicated players who follow the game and travel the tournament circuit.

The bigger issue for players trying to play again or for the first time is does it give them that thrill? Many dedicated players are concerned that the current competitive game lacks the fun that makes it enjoyable to play. The V-set designers have pushed the envelope on skill based squad building and run and gun tactics. You cannot just grab 200pts with some cool looking Jedi, get lucky with your saves and slash your opponent to pieces anymore. Without the "simple" or "stupid luck" element the game it has become difficult to reintroduce to players or even teach to a kid or friend.

Which is why you are seeing so many discussions about making changes to the game.
So if any major change does happen, it will be to make the game more accessible and fun.
