Just wanted to share. My issue with minis is being trying to find people to play the game for the last 9 years I have been collecting it. I may have only played 10x in all the time I have had the darn thing. Some friends have been keen but finding time in busy family lives to get together has got harder as our families have grown. Plus my wife just doesn't like playing it, she isn't the competitive type and my war cries of triumph as I defeat one of her minis and place it on the trophy spot to my right side are lost on her. So recently I even considered selling it all and just trying to get into X-Wing instead but then a wonderful thing happened... My daughter is 12, approaching 13, and for a while was obsessed with harry Potter so I decided it was time that she could watch the original Star Wars trilogy (yes I know, most kids see it at age two these days but we are a bit more measured in what and when we let our kids watch - plus I wanted her to enjoy it at an age when she can really appreciate it). She loved them (of course!) and so we moved on to the prequels though Revenge of the Sith was still debatable in terms of whether it would be viewed. In the end we eventually watched all 3...she's now hooked and can't stop talking about (especially plot holes I never noticed lol) and tomorrow is having a Star Wars movie marathon with her friends here! But I also convinced her to have a game of minis which she resisted at first but then agreed and 4 games later I finally have someone I can play minis with! HALLELUJAH!! The good (or bad) thing is that she is pretty darn good, and strangely enough is a very competitive type and gives cries of triumph as she defeats one of my minis and places it on the trophy spot to her right side We played a game and (she still tends to choose minis based on having all the movie characters rather than squad strength) she included R2D2 in her squad ("because he's in every movie Dad"). I thought "hehe cool there's an easy kill foolish young padawan" but then she proceeded to use his override to lock my Vader in a room while she picked off the rest of my team. Then when Vader got out she threw 4 crits (starting with her first dice roll) with Luke, hero of Yavin to wipe Vader off the board...she lost NO ONE. I can still see her smiling face asking me, while shaking her hand with the dice in it "So my special ability means because I threw 20 (or if 19) I get to throw 4 more times for attack right Daddy?"..."Yes dear...sigh" Life is good.

Ha,yes, I love it. Except I am confused at one part. You said that Revenge of the Sith was debatable to even watch? This seems like you are saying that episode 3 is the worst of the prequels and has no business being in the the Star Wars Legacy. I think you meant to say episode 2 Attack of the Clones. We all know that episode 3 is much better than 2 right? LOL. No this is not starting an argument over prequels, nobody has time for something as silly getting into an argument over prequels. We can just all agree that Star Wars is AWESOME.

I think he was saying that he wasn't sure ep 3 was appropriate because of the dark tone.

Lol UrbanShmi is correct on this one, they are ALL to be watched but it was more about the movie rating and violence in it whether that was appropriate for her to watch at her age. I liked 2 but 3 is better yes, but all are better than 1 I feel...but let's not get into a debate. Though Haydn Christensen is just darn awful in both movies...I could put up with all the rest of the prequel issues just on the fact that they open up the Star Wars universe so much but his acting is almost unbearable...if only, if only!!!

His acting wasn't good from any perspective but it seems like everyone always goes to gripe about Hayden Christensen and his acting. No one ever mentions Samuel L Jackson. He absolutely butchered Mace. I would take Hayden Christensen as Anakin any day over Samuel L Jackson as Mace.
Is it because we have seen Samuel L Jackson be good in other stuff but that we have never seen Hayden be good in anything? Either way, my opinion is only based on their performance in Star Wars.

Hayden was really good in "Shattered Glass" by far my favorite movie with him in it.

I didn't think Samuel was too bad, though probably way too grumpy lol, but I could endure him, Haydn I find hard to watch...but I suppose there was bad acting all round - Liam's dying scene was terrible, Ewan's "Younglings" while covering his mouth was laughable...sigh.
I read a great book "The Secret History of Star Wars" that, as well as revealing that there was never a 6 movie (or even 3 movie) arc in the beginning and the sequels just progressed from the original Star Wars, also showed how in the originals Lucas never did it alone. His scripts, ideas, directing always had input from other very knowledgeable people but when it came to the prequels he cut all those people out and just did it all his way...

Yes it is very nice when kids reach ages where you can start introducing them to things that interest you and then you can share them together. Like you I started introducing my son to the game a couple of years ago, and am thrilled to be taking him with me to the Indiana regional in a couple weeks on June 13th for his first regional tourney, unless of course you count him winning the royal rumble tourney at last years Indiana regional. Now if only I can avoid losing to him?

Yeah, I just took my oldest 2 boys to the Imperial Assault Regional in New Jersey. It was their first experience of competitive gaming, and they had a BLAST! They can't wait to go again. These are memories that don't disappear!
