have you ever compared 2 minis, and thought why on earth would i ever use this one instead of this one? or, has the game really changed that much!?
501st stormie 20 16 8 20 Rapport (This character costs 1 less when in the same squad as a character whose name contains Vader) Squad Assault (+4 Attack while 3 allies with the same name as this character are within 6 squares) Squad Firepower (+10 Damage while 3 allies with the same name as this character are within 6 squares)
Elite Stormie 20 16 8 20 no sa's

It is called power creep. The fact that the Elite stayed around this long (since RS), shows how well they keep it in check. Not as bad as the OR Recruit and OR Guard in back to back sets.

Veteran Rebel Commando gains 10 HP, 1 Defense, 1 Attack, 10 Damage, Mobile Attack, AND Grenades 20 instead of 10 for EXACTLY the same cost.
Pretty significant change if you ask me.

At least the 501st doesn't gain ANY benefit over the Elite Stormtrooper IF Vader isn't in his squad (granted Vader can show up in just about ANY Imperial squad) and there aren't enough other 501st troopers around to give the squad bonuses. That example of the Rebel Commando vs the Veteran Rebel Commando is a great example of "power creep" although in that can we could say it was just trying to make a piece playable.

And the original Rebel Commando still has a place (albeit small) as it can do more damage than it's Veteran version when paired up with a Czerka and Madine.

Most players who use a Czerka know how to keep them safe.

However, if you want to use a czerka, the Pathfinder leaves you an extra 3 points.

i know boba bh is a few more points than boba rs but that is the most significant change in a mini i have seen. going from an overcost decent piece to the best mini in the game today in my opinion.

I wasn't playing the game at the time (and hardly have since, so take my opinion with a grain of salt), but it looks like the RS rebel commando wasn't actually that good way back in Rebel Storm, and certainly by the time they gave it a new mold in A&E. The veteran might have been a way of mitigating that. No one would deny that power creep exists, but it isn't universal. Look at the ridiculously good Captain Rex from Clone Wars versus the overpriced, underpowered (though playable) Rex from Galaxy at War a year later.

Umm, for quite a while, RS Boba was a very top tier mini. And Fett, BH is hardly the best mini in the game. Even when he was released.

i kno rs boba was good back then but the thread is about how good minis are now, not how good they were in the past. that is the whole point that boba bh is a huge jump in bang for the buck. and yes i know its debateable but alot of people say Boba Fett bh is the best piece in the game. In my gaming group everyone who plays him seems hesitant at first due to his cost. by the end of the game he has disintigrated one piece and is working the whole team (meanwhile they cant hit him). From my memories and past with Boba he is been my mvm (most valueable mini) and mara, jedi.

He creates a psycological fear in many players, that is the only reason that he is still considered "the best". People who say that probably haven't played against him enough, Fett fanboys, or have had some bad luck against him. He really isn't that hard to kill.
And even back then, there was quite a debate over Fett's cheaper cost and the value of Double vs Twin.

A psychological advantage is still an advantage.

ok lets compare then.
Boba rs has 10 less hps and same stats. Both have flight accurate shot. Boba rs has +4/ boba bh has +6 Boba rs has double/Boba bh has twin and mobile Boba bh has flamethrower for direct damage. Boba bh has evade. And finally Boba bh has disintegration.
So Boba bh has evade, one of the best abilities in the game. Twin and mobile which keeps him alive even longer, shooting and hiding. Flamethrower for direct damage against force users or a clump of enemies. And finally the ability to take the enemies best player out in one role. You can say this never happens but almost every game i see boba in he lands one.
If that doesnt show how much better he is I dont know how to tell you.

If that doesnt show how much better he is I dont know how to tell you. You forgot one thing: 12 points. That's a pretty significant difference. BFBH is a psych piece - but it is easy to get psyched out, too (unfortunately).

i dont know about you, but to me 12 points is nothing lol. I would take a 12 point piece that had flamethrower, evade, twin and mobile any day of the week lol.
