Even if a new set of rules emerges, you don't have to play them, and if your group likes the old rules, then all is good - you just need some imagination to make scenarios etc to keep it fresh. Added to that the fact that some form of community body will keep 'official' tournies running, it's not that much of a problem. And if V sets add to it, then great times.

This is like the WotC game Acquire. It was originally made by 3M in the 60s and eventually WotC got the license and released it "updated" with some changes. My family HATES the changes they made. They took an awesome game and made it uber-crappy. So even though we have the new version we still play with the older versions (better board, better pieces, no stupid "coupons" that screw with how you play the game, etc). Only reason we keep the new game is for the money if we need it, lol.

Also reminds me of Monopoly, how the newest version is a circular board with electronic banking using credit cards and plays some pop songs when you land on certain properties. Most players will definitely not want to play that version and stick with the original.

So the same thing stands with Star Wars Minis. If it goes to another company, chances are the mechanics may change. Not always (look at Heroclix, changed company but the mechanics are still the same). If the game is picked up from someone else, it's possible WotC won't give their unique mechanics/rules and we'd have to use something new. People can choose to only play with their original pieces, using the old rules and everything. Same thing goes for if we have vsets, people don't have to use those to play. The vsets are just to make sure the game doesn't get stale and we can see the pieces WotC never gave us.

Actually, when you know more of the history, that isn't a likely scenario at all.

Fair enough. I was thinking that WotC is a real company so they wouldn't do something so crass or misguided, but AIG is a real company too... Anyway, I'm just used to hearing fans of franchises always casting themselves as the underdog and I reacted to it. I don't actually know if what I said was true any more than smurfjeedai actually knows how to order poutine in French.

OR a new game could be amazing. Only time will tell.
And smurfjeedai confuses me, even if English is not his first language, I'm pretty sure there's no need to start a new line every point...
It arouses my suspicions

It should. He's not a very good smurf. It's MDB and Dahatchetjeedai again.

The best part is the pretending not to understand English, but not recognizing the random mistakes they are putting in their posts, are not the common mistakes by French speakers. (Of course most Canadians know English better than we do). Further, using an IP one step from your own, and putting it in San Diego isn't all that clever. Especially when it's pretty darn easy to back track, and low an behold, he lives in Tennessee.

I guess I didn't realize the whole drama of MDB and Dahatchetjeedai.

But it makes sense now!
