Rebel Troopers, Clone Troopers, & SBDs could be much better, though you can pretty much boost the frick out of the SBDs and make them almost worth their points, the rebels have really good commandos now, and there's a sweaty fistful of new common clones that make up for the useless Clone Strike version.

Rebel troopers - we can not make them cost 5 (we already have a 4 point rebel shooter and the stats are fine for that unit). Maybe a little stat improvement, but not much.

Clone Troopers - they do need help. 9 points is too much.

SBD's - is better stats or a dropping the cost of the unit better? I'm leaning towards dropping the cost.

Perhaps for the Rebel Troopers, instead of changing the troopers themselves, what about a cheap commander that gives them a decent boost?

Definitly have to agree on the Super Battle Droid, I watch the clone wars and see these guys sucking up shots and still coming, usually it takes heavy weapons or jedi to take them out so at least Damage reduction 10

Yeah and the SBDs are sooo badass in the Rupiblic Commandos computer game! They just won't go down!

Sure Mace Windu can punch their guts out, but he is Mace Windu. And his minis could still do that.

I know eh! I remember seeing a Super slowly lumber into a room surrounded by B1s, it was like a mini boss battle, having to blow it's face plate off and it's still coming. Yes these guys need damage reduction 10 AT LEAST.

I threw my vote in for the Clone Trooper.

And I have a question regarding that mini...Is there any reason why the Clones have such bad defenses (even Clone Commander Gree has a 13 defense)? Clones were created and equipped for war. They were engineered from a solid genetic blueprint (Jango), and trained from birth. So why do minis like the Rodian Trader and Human Engineer (as well as a huge host of other common minis) have better defenses? Does the Clone Trooper armor account for nothing? BigGrin

I know it's not really fair to compare figures like that--especially those created early in the game's history versus those of recent sets. And I'm sure the responses I'll get for this post will spout poetic about game evolution, mechanics, balance, and such. But the low defense scores of Clones always kinda left me perplexed. Tongue

I was really shocked that they didn't have a defence of 16 just like stormies. Especially for their cost. I understand that at the beginning they were meant to be just expendable soldiers, like battle-droids, but surely then their cost should be equally low?

Funny, I just traded for 3 at my LGS last night (only had one prior).
They are cool looking, even if not playable competitively.

I think stormies are purposefully undercosted so that players will use them. They are one of the things that scream "STAR WARS!" to potential players, so the designers probably wanted to encourage people to use them. Except for the 501st stormtrooper, whose paint job seems designed to make sure no one will use them, at least not without second thoughts...

Rebel troopers were probably kinda-sorta worth their five points back before four point shooters, but they would obviously not compare well to their opposite number on the imperial side for the reasons mentioned above. I think either giving the rebel and hoth officers better CEs or maybe giving them some special ability like squad assault would help.

What you are sayign is accurate. There is a transcript on the archives on the WOTC board where Rob Watkins basicaly says exactly that.

And I am putting my vote to the clone trooper. We have so many better clone trooper types now for the same cost, or the likes of the 501 for a point less. I think the SBD could use soem work as well, however it can be booster to ridiculousness in the right squad. It can gain double, twin and get access to boost it's attack from a +2 to a +14 on subsequent twin and doubles, add it's combine fire ability and it can be shooting with a +20. Not bad for a 10 point piece with 70 points of help. Clones need Cody and Amidala to bring them down to 7 points, in turn giving them mobile and wall climber, and there is a number of commanders after that that can be used to uip their attack score in various ways, and Yoda GM gives the ever popular +3/+3. for 55 additional points. so if you do the math, a SBD can be supped up for cheaper and still kill amped clones with minimal problems.

Had to vote for the Klatoonian Enforcer. Anyone with 'enforcer' in their title should have a better attack rating than +1. I mean, really they lived in harsh conditions and were sold into slavery. Replace Adv Attack with Cunning and give them a better +attack.

Rebel Trooper. Worse than clones, Stormtroopers and even BDs, in a sense.
