there is no reason to make this into an arguement. I like seeing discustions like this about a-b-c vs x-y-z. So lets continue this we have covered Cad swap vs. Yobuck-gen sky.

One i am interested in is gowk vs Kyle BM.

Anyone have any thoughts on that one?

Well the key question is what else are in the squads. I could guess, but at 200 both can have quite a bit of variability and that makes a big difference.

Well, it depends on the players first of all, but thats a tough call.
I would have to say.........no I can't LOL
There are pros and cons of each squad.
NR has Gen.Wedge and Dodana, Rep has deep strike and more synergy with Gowk.

When me and dean talked about it yesterday it was comparring.
Kyle, mara, kol, wedge, ghost, dodonna, +fodder

to

Gowk, zuckuss, jwm, dash, r2, +other stuff.

In that combo tying kyle down would be key then having gowk fight mara while jwm and dash fight kol.

granted thats a horible matchup for kyle (zuckuss) and its not the only comparison its just 2 other big time options people have.

Kyle is a fantastic piece, GOWK is as well that fight would be epic.

What are some other builds with them or comparisons?

I think Kyle faces a serious issue with Zuckuss in there. I'm not sure there's a way around it. His biggest strength is being up there, disrupting. GOWK against Mara isn't a sure thing either though. I understand SSM works, but let's remember, she's still attacking 4 times, with cunning (since Zuckuss had to go first to tie up Kyle). But generally, I would see that as a bad matchup for the NR. But again, there are a number of matchups that this NR would work well against, so let's not discount it totally.

Personally, I'm more inclined to play Kyp, Mara, Zuckuss, Kol, Wedge and forgo Kyle.

Thats not bad either kyp can be a great fodder/tie-up character and i love only needing one CE so disruptive isnt a big issue. Haunting zuckuss would be a good option so he can hit a little more. I have trouble with hitting with him. Not a bad idea bill thanks.

Only problem I've found with Kyp is he hits maybe 2/4 attacks. It's often quite hilarious seeing him in a really good placement only to crash and burn. You'd think he wouldn't have as much problem but he does. It could just be my luck, lol. I do agree that Kyp is good for fodder killing and small melee interference. He may not hit much but at least he'll stop a piece or two.

I'm fully expecting that maybe 50% of squads (lowballing it, lol) will feature Zuckuss. The best case solution in that point? Try to glue down your opponents Zuckuss...

I'm gonna seriously have to pick up Vassal again to be ready for Regionals. Last year I didn't practice and threw together a squad at the last second and it wasn't that great. This year? I've played twice in 4 months, lol. Not going go so far ;)

Okay, I have removed content from this thread for baiting and being inflamatory. There is good content in this thread, and I would hate to lock it. There are still a few posts that I am looking at, so don't bring them up.

Please, keep it more to the squads, than the posters.

Though, I will say this does remind me of an arguement from a few years ago. I forget what squad it was that everyone was saying was good, I want to say it was around LOTF. Anyway, a player at our venue (which was a respected one at that time), claimed that it wasn't good because no one at our venue played it. Yet, I think everyone else acknowledged it's strengths, even though we didn't play it. And that one player was proven quite, quite wrong (though it was pointless, due to him quitting shortly afterwards).

I have ideas of what I want to play, but it is generally just ideas until MOTF comes out.

o that was about the MTB. I think this a different idea here though. Ozzel to me just hurts Cad Bane at 200 too much to think its a top squad. I think its a top squad if you run like a vader with him. But if you just running him and 20-30 point guys I dont think so. You need another beat to make him worth this points in the squad. I just think there are too many counters at 200 for a true cad bane swap. I still dont get how Yoda/Skywalker is not a counter to a swap.

If Gencon was tomorrow. I would run Rebels they have too much cheap tech for them not to be run. They are the greatest faction ever. Speeder Ferus han Leia. I might go Zuckuss Luke RC Han though.

Regarding NR, I think that the Restricted map list and jump to 200 points are both significant changes. NR at 150 is solid in my opinion, but at 200 they can get really nasty when you can bring in both Mara and Kyle. That's the same reason the restricted map list helps them; NR does best in melee by far, so now that they can't get stuck on Taris or Teth, I think they're even more competitive.

Personally, though, I see Republic and Rebels being the top. I think Imperial Cad Bane squads are overrated. In fact, I think that Cad Bane in general is overrated. Right now I'm messing around with some Rebel squads, although I'll be testing the Republic squads as well. I'm still keeping NR in mind, even though I agree they might not be in the top few factions, I think they still have a good chance if played well.

But to be honest, I'm waiting for MotF to come out before I start seriously thinking about things. I'm just tossing around some thoughts at the moment, and won't have anything final until after MotF.

Cursing It's NOT THAT FUNNYThumbDown
twice during last years Regionals I could of had my opponent beaten
(a vader/Thrawn swap and a GOWK) and kyp whiffed like school girl

And do you remember when I urged you not to use Kyp because of that Wink
