He'll definitely see some play, I could even see some uses for him.

He is not jaw dropping, but he is cost effective, the Mandos need a lower cost piece, and here he is.

I voted him as GOOD. There is finally a piece that allows for lower point Mando squads like at 100pt level.

Sure there are better Fringe pieces out there but all Mando CE's are for other Mandos. Who wants to rely on Mandalore the Ultimate at 75 pts if you're trying to build a 100 point squad.

Check it:
23 pts - Mando Capt = CE: Twin Attack
26 pts - Mando Qrtrmstr = CE: +4 Attack
19 pts - Mando Scout
24 pts - Taung Warrior x 3
6 pts - Mouse Doid x 2

Not amazing, but now there are options. Also I'm just happy to see another Mando come out in the last set. Oh yeah, and the Ulic bodyguard thing is nice as well.

Really? I think the Mando Jedi Hunter is one of the better Mando pieces. Twin, Jedi Hunter, and Parry make an effective force user counter.

I like the Taung for what he does, and he allows more options in Mando, but I only see him being run as filler or gimick/swarm squads really.

The only problem I have with Jedi hunter is that he has twin attack, which, for the most part, only commanders have (except for the Mandalorian Commander, I think). Frankly, I run Captains all the time and would have prefered a cheaper Jedi Hunter.

Or have the Jedi Hunter give a CE.

So you are complaining about the piece already having Twin Attack? Confused

Sounds like you are saving points by not having to use the Captain then.

Matter of perspective. Only the Mandalorian Commander doesn't have Twin Attack, though he has double.

To me, since I normally plan on using the Captains (it just seems redundant to me for him to have it) and the fact he has a unique ability at his cost that should be a CE. Oh well.

Any way, sorry to get off topic. Back to the Taung Warrior.

I agree with you about a cheaper JH but when I run a Jedi Hunter I've been dropping the Captain for the Czerka. Scouts get the twin and it frees up 10 points. Cool

I'm not terribly impressed. There are some nice things about he Taung, but a lot is to be desired. For 8 points you get 40hp and a paltry 14 defense. He won't last a round against twin attackers, heck Cad Bane has a shot at hitting his attacks on this guy.

Sure he can run and swip with twin and momentum and charging depending on which Mando CE's are boosting him but I just don't see it helping more than the warrior, who is worthless as well. I think for a mando he just doesn't cut it, is he as bad as a DeathWatch Raider? Um no, but unless you are using him as a meat sheild/Ulic Bodyguard I don't see this cat getting a lot of tabletop time.

So good things;
He's a Mando (great CE's just for Mandos)
Inexpensive for the faction (A far sight cheaper in fact)
40 hp (A great HP to cost ratio, only beaten by Jagged Fel)
20 Damage base (not uncommon and for a mando almost a requirement)
Cleave (gimmicky and often unused due to smart spacing by an opponent. But helpful in those circumstances where it can be used, so not a bad thing)

Bad things:
14 Defense (on a melee non-fringe based fig. a faction with only 1 stat boosting CE's to speak of)
40hp (only 14 D, it wont last long)
+6 attack (Needs more help then he is worth to be effective at defeating anything other than scrubs, granted for his cost a +6 isn't bad, but it still won't help him hit anything of value on the opposing factions team.)

Well, he is a cheap unit for Uliq to bring in to the Sith.

I can't say no to 8 point body guards. That brings Ulic back into peoples squad building, if you ask me. They arent threats, they are super Mandalorian Gran Raiders IMO.

I think he is an excellent finisher piece for the faction, they are already a solid faction and the main complaint with the mandos is the cost, well cost reduced. You could even bring as couple ofthese guys with both of the old mandalores, sure it's dissapointing not to get like a Karen Traviss Mando, or Canderous as Mandalore, but hey as a piece it's not to shabby

Ok. So far it seems that most people feel it's a great Mandalorian for Ulic to bring for the Sith as a body guard. Not too bad, since they can soak up some hits.
