So, I've been throwing around an idea for an online mini matchup of sorts. Inspired by the March Madness events on Wizards the past few years, I wanted to see who the baddest character is in the minis game since we now have them all. The idea is to take three versions of the same unique and pit them against each other and see how the brackets fill out. Members would pick matchups and play them on their own time and report the results. I wanted to get an idea if anyone was wanting to participate before posting all the stats and rules and stuff. If there are enough, I'll start a new thread in the online play forum for tracking the results.
Basically, the pieces are ranked by total cost of all three versions. Some of the characters are broken into faction (Sidious in Seps/Sith and Empire) or other criteria (melee Luke and non-melee Luke) and some break faction rules (Wedge in Rebel and NR) to fill out the spots for a 32 team tourney. All rounds would be played within the confines of the Ratattak Arena, but following regular skirmish rules. Each member would matchup the pieces and play himself for balance and go with the best of three series for each round. Some of the "teams" are below as an example - I'll post the full list I compiled if there are enough people interested in getting it going. All games could be played with real pieces or proxies or on Vassal.
Any takers? You don't have to commit to anything, just let me know if interested or confused.
Luke Skywalker – Rebel, melee 105 49 Luke Skywalker, Champion of the Force 29 Luke Skywalker, Jedi 27 Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight
Luke Skywalker – Rebel, non-melee 119 45 Luke's Snowspeeder 39 Luke Skywalker, Legacy of the Light Side 35 Luke Skywalker, Hero of Yavin
Luke Skywalker – New Republic 199 10 Luke Skywalker, Force Spirit 74 Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master 115 Grand Master Luke Skywalker
Darth Vader – Imperial 217 75 Darth Vader, Jedi Hunter 71 Lord Vader 71 Darth Vader, Legacy of the Force

Ok, I am a bit confused. Would it just be a one on one match? I don't see how GMLS could be pitted against Luke FS. Or LUke Champion of the Force against Luke Jedi Knight.

I'll blame the allergy medicine since I wasn't clear. ;)
The matchup would be the three versions of non-melee Luke versus another character in three different versions. So, it would be three on three. The March Madness thing was a one on one bout, this would expand the single piece to three (all counting as the same Unique) working together. The multiple Luke's were not the best example and a bit confusing. Some early matchups would be very lopsided, but eventually would be a bit more balanced. The two below fall in the center of the brackets.
Mara Jade – Imperial / New Republic 125 31 Arica 49 Mara Jade Skywalker 45 Mara Jade, Jedi
(all three versions of Mara) would battle the three versions of Kyle:
Kyle Katarn – New Republic 131 31 Kyle Katarn 46 Kyle Katarn, Combat Instructor 54 Kyle Katarn, Jedi Battlemaster

I would group the teams by point values based on every 25 points. Example: 3 Kyles add to 131 (150 points) so would fight other teams of adding between 126 and 150 pts.
First of all, the easy teams.
Wedge Antilles Team (75 pts) Wedge Antilles - 23 pts Wedge Antilles, Rogue Two - 13 pts General Wedge Antilles - 23 pts
Qui-Gon Team (100 pts) Qui-Gon Jinn - 40 pts Qui-Gon Jinn, Jedi Master - 35 Qui-Gon Jinn, Jedi Trainer - 24
Padme Amidala Team (75 pts) Padme Amidala - 15 Queen Amidala - 16 Padme, Senator - 23
Veers Team (50 pts) Major Maxamillion Veers - 12 General Veers - 21 General Veers, Hologram - 17
Kyle Katarn Team (150 pts) Kyle Katarn - 31 Kyle, JBM - 54 Kyle, CI - 46
Kit Fisto Team (150 pts) Kit Fisto - 32 Jedi Master Kit Fisto - 60 Kit Fisto, Jedi Master - 42
IG-88 Team (125) IG-88 - 37 IG-88, Bounty Hunter - 44 IG-88, Assassin Droid - 43
Dengar Team (100 pts) Dengar - 15 Dengar, Bounty Hunter - 30 Dengar, Hired Killer - 31
Bossk Team (75 pts) Bossk - 17 Bossk, Bounty Hunter - 25 Bossk, Trandoshan Hunter - 29
Assajj Ventriss Team (150 pts) Assajj Ventriss - 34 Assajj Ventriss, Separatist Assassin - 43 Assajj Ventriss, Strike Leader - 57
4-Lom Team (100 pts) 4-Lom - 21 4-Lom, Bounty Hunter - 33 4-Lom, Droid Mercenary - 35
Then, you can build almost infinite teams with the remaining uniques (for many different point levels)
Examples: (Luke 50 pt, Luke 75 pt, Luke 100 pt, Luke 125 pt, Luke 150 pt, Luke 175 pt, Luke 200 pt (I think it is a little much to go past 200))
Luke 50 Luke, Tauntaun - 16 Luke, Young Jedi - 21 Luke, Force spirit - 10
Luke 75 Luke, Rebel - 17 Luke, Rebel commando - 27 Luke, Jedi - 29
Luke 100 Luke, Hero of Yavin - 35 Luke, Landspeeder - 47 Luke, Force spirit - 10
Luke 125 Luke, commando - 27 Luke, Snowspeeder - 45 Luke, Champion - 49
Luke 150 Luke & yoda - 70 Luke, Champion - 49 Luke, Jedi
Luke 175 Luke, Jedi Master - 74 Luke, CHampion - 49 Luke, Landspeeder - 47
Luke 200 Luke, GM - 115 Luke, Commando - 27 Luke, Snowspeeder - 45
