Another point to make is that Revan could have taken over the galaxy, but chose not to.

Revan was incredible as a fighter, Force user, and commander. The sum of those skills combined blows away any other Sith Lords'

Very well, said everyone! Now here is a question kinda related to the poll. Strength comparisons when dueling. I would like to invite some folks over from customs to engineer stats that they think would better suit the characters. I only do this because I do not believe many sith lords from earlier sets are not properly represented. I believe they could help us fine tune the argument.

Or become her apprentice, learn her ways, and use her own abilities to overthrow her! ... Or just dispense with all that and throw her down a reactor core shaft. =D

I've heard it said a few times that Sidious 'let' windu win, which would make sense in that he needed to finally turn Ani. He's reputed in some quarters to be prolly the best duelist of the whole lot. He beat Luke too. But, I think we're considering up and up brute strength and Force usage as too important. In the end, we can hypothesise what would happen in a 'Bane vs Sidiyo' event, but 1) I can imagine if Sidious was as good as folk say he was, then he would have found a way to beat Bane-o and 2) (relating to point 1) in the end, its not the sum of all one's abilities and how they stack up, its how they went, what they did. You have to say what Sidious did was uber. Maybe Bane set it up, but then 1) Sidious still had to finish it up and 2) someone taught Bane so then the arguement can be used to nulify anything Bane did.
In the end, who knows! But I think that the indication by the voting results prolly suggests that Sidious was best - the SWM fanatics voting seem to think so!

In the EU, Sidious's status as one of the greatest is solidified, if I recall correctly cooked up a force storm at a entire fleet in anger and was effectively immortal. While Sidious was a bit of a weakling and had a generally underwheming preformance, you have to remember that Lucas was on a fairly tight deadline and lacked the nessiary CGI to make a incredable fight like that.
In a sense, Palpatine was everything Bane was in the force, just less Lightsaber, more wizardy. Though he was capable of both to a much higher standard then any Jedi, with few exceptions.
Hence why there is a inconsistanty to the dueling standard between the old Trigoly and the new. Thats why Palp was able to take out 3 Jedi Masters within second of eachother but was defeated by a one-handed waste of an apprentice in a lapse of concentration, for the sake of plot and because Lucas wanted to off him fairly quickly. Same reason practically all Sith failed, because the plot called for a betrayal, or for them to have a moment of weakness that is exploited.
Otherwise, Nipthsis and Sion would have never have been defeated. They could only die by the Exiles hand logically, which would make them the strongest in the univerce, because they powered them up so much that engineering a equally gimmicy charcter against them. Bane, Yoda would have nothing on them, and the only one who could probably draw against Sion is Nipthsis and Palp due to their incredable strength/immortailty. Hence I would rather that those two were kept away from canon since they are broken compared to everything else that came before or after them.
