It's that time of year - here's a summary of some stats from the four Regionals* we've seen so far, in terms of how the different factions are doing. I think it gets harder and harder to blanket factions, as some have very diverse builds - it is an indication of how things are going altogether. I do think this year's meta has seen a big shakeup, with Talon Karrde, Tantives, Buzz Droids/LINs, and Daala all having a big impact on how things are working. There's more strafe hate around, more Jedi hate around, and there are more swarms around.

This is the summary of how the top 4s have been looking (there should be one green bar for Rebels - I had some results mistakenly labelled as "Rebel"):




And this is the placings for each faction, boiled down into one number - the higher, the better a faction has been performing. For example, the one Sith squad so far placed at 6th out of 11 squads at LowerHuttACon - it finished exactly halfway up the table, so got a 0.5, hence the overall Sith rating of 0.5.

The Tantives, along with some support from Luke and Leia on Speeder, have been enough to put Rebels back on top, while the Imperials and Separatists are perennially strong:

Does anyone know how the lower part of the rankings for Indiana looked - I couldn't find the rankings anywhere?

Hmm, Daala has won 3 of the 4 Regionals so far.

Someone has to say it, so I guess I will: maybe we didn't nerf Daala hard enough. She doesn't restrict the meta quite so severely now as she did before the nerf (and the Slaver nerf), but she's still got a choke-hold on it.

As an example, I played the best I could (ie, no mistakes or bone-head moves) in the PA regional vs FlyingArrow's Daala Snowtroopers, but the final score was 200+ to my 96pts...and this was with JarJar killing 7 troopers himself just with lucky Bombad saves. My squad had 3 Cloaked and 1 Stealth piece, too, with Soresu, FPRRs, careful placement, lots of out-thinking, etc. Lou (who won MI with Daala) said that he didn't run her in PA because "I already won a Regional with Daala so I didn't want to use her again."

Everyone is welcome to draw their own conclusions, but to me it's clear: Daala isn't just Tier 1 (which would be cool), but she's a gatekeeper. Still.

Sure - the other one barely changed, but this one moved a bit:

I tried categorising the squads that have made it into the top 4. I'm sure people will pick over them, and would come up with something different if they did it, but that's the way I see it.

A lot of squads are really hybrids - eg Dooku/lots of Geonosians is a swarm as well, but since there's 100 points of Jedi in there, I classified it under melee.
I didn't put Tantives under swarm, since they're not the main damage dealer - I put the Luke HoE build under melee, and the Han Smuggler ones under shooters.

So far, it looks like we've had in the top 4s:
