Chris West's latest map project less than a week left on the Kickstarter, and is currently severely under-funded. He has designed four double-sided maps for this kickstarter. Its currently at about $7,000, enough to print only the first map, but close to the $8,000 mark for printing the second map. We need to hit $16,000 to get all maps printed in one print run, otherwise the remaining maps will be quite expensive to get printed individually later. Please donate, not only to make the other three maps a reality, but also to get them for yourself and your Star Wars Minis collection! For anyone who might possibly not know, Chris West is THE map designer and illustrator for Wizards of the Coast's official maps when the game was in print, and he has continued to release newer and even better-illustrated maps than before. These are the best of the best, and specifically designed for Star Wars Miniatures! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mapmaker/distant-outposts-a-sci-fi-poster-map-set

What I would consider the ideal donation amount would be $30. This will get you two double-sided maps (and hopefully we can get the last $900 to get the second map printed). ADDITIONALLY Chris is offering to allow anyone who backs this amount or more to be given access to the PDFs of all the maps he has designed as a freelancer (meaning anything that he didn't do for WotC). If you ask me that's a pretty amazing offer.
EDIT: Sorry I misunderstood. Each reward amount is only for the item stated in that particular reward.

I did not realize he had a kickstarter going. Thanks for the heads-up.

I donated $15 last week. As of right now, I will get 1 double sided map. If I donate another $15, and the $8,000 goal is not reached, do I still pay the additional $15, and get 2 double sided maps of the same map, or will I just get charged the $15 for the 1 map that made the threshold?
By the way everyone, these maps look fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

The $30 pledge is just for the PDFs - no physical maps. Two maps + the PDFs would be $52.

My understanding (I've donated to most of his Kickstarters but my memory could be failing me) is that you get the rewards for the given amount and below it. I shot him a message asking so we should know for sure soon enough.

By the way everyone, these maps look fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!! If you donate enough for 2 maps, but he only raises enough to print 1, then you'll be charged $30 regardless (he doesn't have that much control over the system directly, but he can definitely work problems like this out with you), so you'll either get 2 of the same map or he might be able to get you 1 of the new map and 1 of an older map. You ARE able to alter your backing (raising it or lowering it) up until it ends. I currently have the same situation as you, and I think I'm going to go ahead and up my backing to $30 for the time being (I'll reduce it to $15 if its about to end and we don't hit $8,000). I can only imagine how much money is "invisible" because people aren't donating enough for all four maps just because they think that $16,000 isn't going to be raised. For all we know, there might actually be enough money willing to be donated for the full four maps, but everyone is waiting on everyone else to get the number that high. :P

flyingarrow is correct, each reward level is only for that level, so the $30 reward is for the pdf library only.

Hi, guys! Thanks for spreading the word of this project!
A few clarifications:
• The $30 tier gets you my complete library of poster maps that I've ever released through my Maps of Mastery business , including several alternate versions and some unpublished content (and of course, all the new maps) in PDF form. Most of these include two versions of each: with SWM lines and without. That tier is PDF-only, so if you want the printed maps, your most cost-effective route is to pledge enough for the printed maps you want, and then use the add-on menu to get the PDF pack(s) or Omnibus.
• You can get all of my poster maps in PDF for a $25 add-on, all of my terrain card sets in PDF for $20 (first time ever offered!), or you can get both sets--every map I've ever published--by adding $45.
• Every pledge of $10 or higher automatically comes with PDF downloads of the NEW maps made for this project. That will be at least 8 maps--even if we don't hit the stretch goals to print the physical, double-sided posters.
• Likewise, for backers of the vinyl rewards: the vinyl maps of your choice will get printed for you even if those stretch goals aren't met.
• If you pledge for four posters and we only unlock three, You'll be able to substitute any of my in-print posters for your additional selection.
• That said, As long as we can come close to those additional stretch goals--and it looks pretty good right now!--I'm pretty determined to find a way to get them into print. Even if it means a micro print run that makes each poster too expensive for me to put into distribution, I'll do everything I can to make sure that backers get the maps they pledge for.
• I've tried to make several of these tournament-friendly. I can't promise that the folks who make the map list decisions will put them on the restricted list, but several have the qualities that I've been told they look for in restricted list maps: protected approaches to gambit, limited shooting lanes, lancer-safe commander hidey-holes, and so on.
• A couple of these maps have a new terrain marking that I've only used on a couple of other maps: red door lines. These function just like normal doors, with one exception: They do not automatically open or close with adjacency. If you want to affect them, you need door control. They represent secured hatchways. I leave it to the powers that be to decide whether this should apply in tournaments, or if they should be treated like normal doors during such games...
Thanks everyone! Let me know if I missed any questions!

That can't be answered because we don't know how many new maps there will be.

$48 gets you all four double-sided posters in print, plus downloadable PDF files of each with and without the terrain lines. $10 gets you those PDFs without the print maps. The funding goal to unlock the fourth printed poster is $16,000. We're currently at $10,201, and if the current momentum holds for the next four days, we will hit that benchmark. We just passed the stretch goal to get these three sheets of cargo tiles printed; each print backer gets them in print for free; each PDF backer gets them in PDF for free. This pack of bonus terrain grows as we go on; it's possible that by the end, every backer could end up with a full set of brand new Sci-Fi Cargo Tiles, absolutely free... Thank you so much, everyone!!

jak wrote:do any of the maps look like they may be tourny legal some day? to be honest I have enough non tourny maps to use I've been looking at them and I don't see any that are a slam dunk for the restricted list. All 4 maps for the the orbital docking station basically have wide open gambit, except the player on the docking station side gets one square on the safe side of a wall. That gives the inside player a pretty big advantage. I'd be surprised if any of them make the restricted list due to that. Most of the maps have cargo resting in the hallway. If some of that cargo were in gambit and had red lines, then the outside might have a safe square, too, and that could even things up. Similarly, if there was a door to take away the inside player's safe square that would also even things up. (For example, in the Administrative Quadrant, there is a broken window and an unbroken window. If they were switched, then the broken window would take away the inside player's safe gambit square and even things up.) The two Mining Colony levels that we see both have gambit split into multiple rooms, so that each side has access to safe gambit (like Ravaged Base). Either could have potential, but the split gambit could mean not enough interaction and lead to standoffs. The hallways have long shooting lanes and are huge friendly. The Mining Colony Roof looks like a very fast map. Not much in the way on the approach and not much hindering terrain. Gambit looks open, but not too much. It's a shooty-looking map, but it may have just enough obstacles to make the grade. The left side has no protection in the starting zones, so you'd only bring this map expecting to take that side. For that reason I wouldn't expect it to be a very popular map even if it's on the restricted list, but I can't rule it out just from looking at it. There is one more Mining Level we haven't seen yet. Also, the red-square doors would need to be ruled as doors. IIRC, they have been ruled to be walls in the past.

Doing the math and, if it was 1 week longer, I'd be able to support. I need to clear off my Visa before DragonCon.
