The number of available tickets is determined by Gen Con--if we get more this year, they'll probably let us ask for more next year, as well.
As Lou said, if we sell out, we can ask them to make more tickets available, and we'll certainly try to accept generics if we have seats.

Trust me we will have over the max. Bryan Hole, Etienne(ATM), Chris Flores, Randy Barker, Greg Hollis and myself are playing and not sure any of us have gotten tix yet.

Also, there should be no reason (even if we have to play on the floor) that anyone is turned away. If a game is to capacity and beyond it is a good thing.

In fact, I here and now volunteer to be one of the first people sitting on the floor if it means that we can have more players; I do that all the time with my kids, so I'm used to it.

I second this, I am not upposed to playing on the floor at all, I just want to play =). Second I am pretty used to letting people walk all over me ;)

GenCon staff won't allow anyone to play on the floor, but I get (and agree with) the sentiment. We'll make it work. We'll squeeze in.

We will do what we can, but at the end of the day, it is up to Gencon and what they will and won't allow. If it is at all allowable, we will do it.

As a follow-up, the crux of the problem is that for the past couple of years, attendance has been falling at a pretty steady rate. Therefore even though we asked for more than 28 spots, we were only given 28 spots because last year we only had 25 players and Gencon (Derek) was basically giving us a gift at 28 because in his mind if they had 25 players last year and yearly attendance drops, we probably should have only gotten 24 or so max spot.
Now, IF everyone who is planning on playing had bought their tickets when event tickets went on sale (I know it isn't feasable for everyone but am talking the ideal situation here), then we could have gone to Gencon 2 months (or more) ago and said hey our event is sold out and we know we have more players who want to play can we get some more space. It would have been much easier to get "extra" space then, than it will be at this moment, since technically we can't even ask because our event isn't sold out yet.
So, it will be pretty much 100% up to Gencon staff who are actually on location Thurs at 9AM when the champs starts to determine if we will be able to have more than the 28 ticketed spots that we were approved for. We obv can't take anyone else's space without getting permission. We do not want to turn anyone away, but the reality of the situation is that we will have very little control over the situation at this late of time.

Yeah, people really shouldn't be making promises about getting everyone in. Obviously every effort will be made to let everyone play who wants to play, but at this point we don't necessarily get to decide that. I won't be attending GenCon this year, but I trust that the people in charge will try their absolute best to get everyone playing who wants to play. If you really want to 100% guarantee yourself a spot, you'll have to buy a ticket beforehand.

To further what Jason said about the "ideal situation". We had initially requested 16 for minis madness. That event was cut to 12 initially. When the tickets began sold out in early June I was able to contact GenCon and raise it to 16. In reality last year was poorly attended for us across the board. GenCon cut as needed. A strong showing across the for SWM events will get us a lot more leeway next year when requesting events. Anyone with questions or concerns can email me directly at jameswys@hotmail.com

I have been talking to GenCon and I think we will be able to have 32 total for the championship. So if you can buy your ticket now, please do so but if not don't be discouraged and decide not to come to GenCon I will be able to fit you in. We will have the space now.
