V-SET 9 Play Testers: We are going to need as many play-testers as we can get. We need all the volunteers we can get to play test as always and we hope you can assist in this task.

THings will be done Similarly to how they were last time, with 1 exception I am the New Lead Play-tester. ,
A little Background about myself: I have Been Competitively playing the Game since about 2006. I have been a play-tester since V-set 2. ANd i was also the 2011 Tile Wars Champion. In addition i have made the Tile Boxes for the TIle wars Champions for the last several Years.

So here is the plan:

(1) I will send you a single miniature to play test from one of your preferred faction(s).
(2) When you have submitted a thorough play test of a 200 point game on a map from the restricted list against a capable opponent, you will:
(3) Receive 2 miniatures to playtest from your preferred faction(s).
(4) After you have performed at least one thorough play test of each miniature – again both 200 point games on a map from the restricted list and against a capable opponent – you will:
(5) Receive 3 miniatures to playtest from your preferred faction(s).
(6) When the play testing period ends, there will be a small prize from either Troll and Toad or Cool Stuff Inc. for the person that submits the most viable play tests for consideration.

A viable play test should include the above ingredients as well as:
(1) List the opponent (board name and actual name)
(2) List the map
(3) Be sure it is a 60 minute timed game
(4) List the VSET 9 mini(s) used
(5) List the # of activations
(6) List the total point cost
(7) List Reinforcements/Reserves if any are used
(8) Answer:
(a) How did the characters abilities interact with each other?
(b) Did you understand how the SA/CE interactions work after reading them just once?
(c) Did the abilities on the character(s) make sense? Was anything out of place and/or missing?
(d) Does the mini(s) work?
(e) Is the cost accurate?
(f) Any suggestions for it/them?
(g) Analysis/Description of the game – Detailed accounting of the game

In the Initial comment please let me Know what your Preferred faction is as well as a secondary. We hope you will volunteer your time and effort.

I'm willing to help. Smile
Republic and Sith.
I'm willing to help out with any faction really except Yuuzhan Vong and Separatists as I'm not very competent in those factions as of yet.

ok....I have to say it.... while I understand the idea behind the test and receive more theory.... I just don't think it works at all......

I mean great I got to use 1 piece from the faction to build my squad with.... well what if something else in that set and faction would optimize the squad more? then my initial playtest was pretty much worthless. I know that in the past when I playtested (which was a lot) when I only had access to one or two pieces and then I got others I was like wow.... wish I had known this was coming out it would have made that squad so much better.

Basically what I am saying is that the playtesters should have access to the entire factions stats and the fringe stats as well to be able to do truly useful playtesting....

Part of the Reasoning this was Put in place was because many pieces would not get thoroughly play-tested. Several Pieces would go by the Way-side as people focused on the ones they liked best. My intent is to look at any of these pieces and see if they will have a major effect on each other. In some cases there are 10 or more fringe pieces so by giving someone access to all of those it can cause them to loose focus, which is not good for the Play-testing. After a round or 2 of play-testing most people would be able to see the entire faction anyhow.

I've already been testing Smile, now that I know where to send the reports, you should get some from me soon!

Also, this isn't the reason why I playtest, but I am curious what the highest qualifying number was last year if this was ever given out?

I'm in just bloomail me with my mini and I'll get going. Don't really need a specific faction but I do tend to play more rock squads than anything else, so maybe something that would work well in that vein. thanks.

I need to get with LesHippy and see who had the most. If they are at GenCon next week I can catch them then and if not I will mail it out to them.

This system is for new playtesters to get their feet wet.

For experienced playtesters, it will be a little different.

We will make a concerted effort to give you pieces that make sense to use together. Some are actually more or less stand alone pieces. Others really are designed to be played together.

Keep in mind things change quickly in the process, so sometimes synergies are added on later.

That is part of Chris' duties to be vigilant about such things. It's actually a really tough job, but I have all the confidence that he will be great at it just like Mike was.

Not everyone will get a group of figures! Either way, be it a small group of figures designed to work together, or a single figure - the whole point is that we want to get data back before giving out more. :)
