Christmas Ebay rip off Options

A couple of days after christmas, I was lookingon ebay and came across a complete set of Revenge of the Sith minis (missing a couple of cards) and I got it with a bid of $120.00 (Aus). I was thrilled with that because my son and I have got virtually none of that set between us.

He contributed some christmas money he got, so he could have some of the set.Sad

I paid by credit card 2 weeks ago, and the seller hasn't even communicated with me about posting the minis.Mad

He's ignored messages and emails, and it's clear to me that I'm never going to see these minis.

Any thoughts on what I can do?

You should be able to file a claim via eBay. Also, did you pay through PayPal? If you did, you can open a claim through them. Unless the seller can provide proof that he shipped your items out (Delivery Confirmation number, tracking), you have a good chance at getting your money back. The real question is how long ago did you pay this seller? You only have about a 30 day window with PayPal if memory serves.

If this guy is serious about selling the set, he will respond very quickly to whatever claim you might open. That's usually more effective than e-mail.

EDIT: Also, what type of feedback did this seller have? Even high feedback (positive) can be deceptive. I like to check recent feedback history on my sellers.

I've got a paypal account now, but I didn't when I bought this. I've tried to open a claim, but because it wasn't paid for using my account, the website wont let me make a claim.

I tried ringing the paypal people, but I cant get past the automated message. I need to talk to an actual person.

The seller had paypal.

He had 100% positive, but I noticed today when I was looking that there was negative stuff from 12 months ago on there.

I didn't know I could look at that until today. Ebay is very new to me.

So did you buy this item using a friend or family member's PayPal account? As long as the account owner files the claim, you should be fine.

eBay's feedback system can be a little screwy. They've tweaked it so much over the last few years. Don't be afraid to ask questions when it comes to eBay. There are some real scumbags there. However, there are some genuinely good sellers out there too.

Hmmm, I don't have experience paying with a credit card for an eBay item. I usually pay via PayPal (of course there may be a CC linked to a PayPal account). At this point, it sounds like you have no grounds to file a PayPal claim. I would be looking to contact eBay. Lemme see if I can find you some Customer Service numbers.

Most credit cards have a stop payment program that extends out 60 days. It's probably worthwhile to call your credit card company and confirm their policy is 60 days. I'm not sure if international would be the same as US.

If you can confirm that, you might give the seller one more try and tell him if you don't here from him in 24 hours you'll do a stop payment with the credit card company. If you do here from him, tell him at this point you'll only accept a certified trackable priority shipment sent with the required tracking number within another 24 hours. And if anything shady happens at this point, or any excuse or delay is tried, do the stop payment.

Some of these scam artists try delaying tacticts to push you past the PayPal/Ebay and credit card protections by trying the whole "I sent it. you didn't get it? I'll resend right away!" routine and sounding completely cooperative while actually providing no trackable info nor the product.

Oh, I know there are good sellers.

I've never used it till a couple of weeks ago. I bought some WW2 Documentry DVDs and I recieved the in 3 daysThumpUp .

I guess this is a lesson in being not careful enough...

You should be able to go the the Buyer Resolution Center in "My eBay." That will give you the opportunity to mark if an item has not been received yet.

Yeah, I think his best bet is to contact his CC company and file a claim on eBay. PayPal has nothing to do with this, from what I gather.

I would suggest filing a claim with Ebay and disputing the charge with your Credit Card.

My card is actually a debit card, would the same thing apply?

If that doesn't work for you, try going to the "Contact Us" option. You can look up your question and find some info. There's also usually a Chat option to talk directly with an eBay representative. This link may help too:

Probably not since that typically comes directly out of your bank account, but you'd have to contact the card company to see whether they offer any fraud protection in that case.

NO!!!!

Debit cards are VERY BAD things to use with online transactions. It is just like giving the other person cash. If that is your payment method you may have little recourse.
