Go to SWMgamers.com and check out the thread about vassal. There is a picture guide on how to load it and play.

I think you have to have an account to even look at the site, but thats just me thinking not 100% sure.

So whats the problem your having like your dont know?

If you have everything Downloaded, user name & all set up, all you have to do is open up your Vassal Icon, then when it comes up you load your SWM's mod which is pretty easy to find each step to get through that, now once it loads you click the Look for a game online & once there it should bring you to the main room where someone on there can easily explain to you exactly how to set your pieces & everything, i would list it here but its hard explaining when your not on it but when someone is on it should be easy to explain to you once your on there.. They are usualy friendly on there, more people on Vassal means more people staying interested in SWM's & more people to play.

Now if you downloaded it & made your account and whatnot but still didnt download the SWM's mod, then you need to download that. You gotta remember Vassal & SWM's on Vassal are 2 different downloads, so you need to download both of them, once you do then your able to open SWM's mod through Vassal & its easy from there IMO to sign ontop it & look for a game online to where someone will explain the rest.

yea, i tried to do an "online" game, but i dont know what to do after taht. help! i really want to play someone online! (Also, can you play a computer?)

anybody else having an error with loading all of the maps? only certain ones load, and i did download all of them off the vassal site

Well that's good. You should see a couple of boxes in the upper right. Active games and current game. If you right click on an active game and click join game that will enter you into the "room". Then right click on a player and click sync, you get a pop up that asks you to join as an observer, say yes and the map that the players are playing on should load. That lets you follow and watch in on the match being played.

Go to file and pick "new game". The rest should be straight forward. Once you create a game you invite another person to play, they join, pick a color...etc

Did you get it work? I'm on Vassal now.

If you're on then you'll see me and a few others in the "main room".

Click on the Vassal icon on your desktop, you'll see "module library 9.0", double click on that. A welcome screen pops up and gives you a few choices, it defaults to "start new game offline" directly below that is "look for game online", click that and then "finish". Then the SWM skirmish game controls will show up. Then you go from there.

Thats it.
