Now that the end is officially here with the release of MOTF, I still had hope someone would pick it up. Well, I guess someone kind of did. I heard that the company that produces Flames of War, has purchased the license for Star Wars. It's going to be similiar to FoW, with 35mm minis. Which is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for the game I know and love. I don't know if I'll pick up the new game and start all over. I've put so much money into SWM now, and really want to just keep playing the way it is with what is available. Anyone else heard anything about this? More importantly, how many of you are going to start all over with new minis and play the new game?

I'm more interested in Hasbro using one of its other subsideraries to continue the game as is. Hasbro is WotC's parent company and Hasbro still has the SW license so this is quite probable.

I'm pretty sure the FoW announcement about a new Star Wars line was an April Fools joke, but I can't get their sight to load right now to confirm. But that's the last I had heard about it.

I was just told this information last night at my local gaming store by the owner's wife. The owner was away somewhere(I'm guessing a convention of sorts). They said they just bought it.

The FOW thing had to be a joke- they listed 10 things and said only half were true and 5 of those things were all WWII related and tied into the product they already promote. For those who dont know FOW is a 15mm WWII game (with minis that are horribly overpriced for the 15mm market to boot)
I know I saw the stat cards for the new Hasbro Action figure Star Wars Galactic Battles game cards and they looked VERY similar to the WOTC SWM cards ( at first I just assumed it WAS the WOTC cards with action figures). Since Hasbro will still be making SW figs it makes sense that they would release a game around their figures what with WOTC no longer filling the miniatures/game niche.

Is Heroscape made by Hasbro?
If so, could that be a possibility? Having Star Wars Heroscape?
I'd give that a try.

Not anymore. Hasbro dumped Heroscape to WOTC.

indeed- its a sad fact of corporate gaming: Hire incredibly talented people and give them an unlimited universe to explore... THEN water it down to the same old tired formula and keep such a tight grip on the bottom line that it only has a 5-10 year marketing life span :(
Whatever the case Star Wars gaming wont die- for many many years it has been carried on in the hearts and minds of fans.

Yeah, at the moment the subsidiary of Hasbro that handles miniatures games for them is Wizards of the Coast. So the whole Hasbro reacquires SWM idea is pretty unlikely.

WOTC does have to empty THEIR warehouses of Star Wars products, if they don't, they can't sell it. Something I've learned from Heroclix, the parent company's warehouses is not the same as the distrubutors. If the deals I've heard about are true, than there is no doubt that it is extremely possible for this to be the case, because it is a fire sale of all things Star Wars at WOTC.

I'm familiar with how WizKids used to make just enough to fill distributor preorders, so they would be sold out even though there'd be plenty left in the distributor chain.
However, I stopped by my local shop tonight and was told that their distributor is sold out. So they won't have any Masters of the Force unless WotC decides to make more.
To my knowledge, their distributor is Diamond Comics.

Diamond is the Comic book side, "Alliance" is the gaming and other collectible stuff side. I am going to call my rep here in a minute and see if they are indeed out.

Does this mean that MotF is about to get much more expensive per pack?

So far, no. I guess it just depends on where demand is. Some big online retailers still have it in stock and are still selling it for the prices they had before release.

Alliance is indeed out of MOTF, they are unsure if they will be able to get anymore, don't wait around folks, Motf will be gone before you know it!
