Ever been suprised on the field with a mini that you once thought was underwheming? Or a good mini that had turned out to be worth less then you thought?

Today I had one of those moments in a three way match with General Grevious, Sourge of the Jedi. Always thought of him as a bit rubbish really at fighting and commander effect, yet he single handied reduced the latest Mace Windu to 60 hp, even though Windu struck first and last. Jedi Hunter on a twin and double piece is deadly in melee combat, easpically since theres not that vast a difference between it's attacks and many commonly accepted betters.

Boy was I surprised the other day. I fell asleep on my couch and woke up because I felt a poking sensation on my legs. I realized that my son had totally "Indian in the Cupboarded" my pieces, and my ewoks had ACTUALLY swarmed and were poking me. I killed them all.

Actually: I have been surprised by a few minis. I have found Arica to be clutch, Jag Fel to be the best 10 pt piece ever, and C-3po Ewok Diety can be amazingly useful! (my brother just stuck him next to his Commanders and I couldn't hit them!)

Aside from that: I pulled out the ORIGINAL Kyle Katarn the other day. With commander effects gets: Mobile/evade. Has stealth, accurate shot. Lightsaber +10, and you can give him twin...pretty danged good

I totally agree with you. I find that with some of the new Djerak pieces that you can use as body guards, he is even better. He costs 57, and if you add an 18 or a 19 point dejerak in you can basically use the bodyguard and give Fel 190 hp. He is the man. There is NOTHING better than cortosis gauntleting a person...nothing

Darth Bane and Exar Kun in the same squad - they completly owned up an entire squad like it was a marmite sandwich ( sorry, bad analogy there lol).

Wicket, once dealt 40 damage to Boba, BH while evading(via wedge) 8 shots from him. Held him long enough for backup to arrive.

and Luke Hoth Pilot. He and a rodian trader once charged 5 rebel troops and a full HP Han RH because i thought i was going to lose, i decided to go out with a bang and Luke deflected every shot and hit every attack to get han to 10. Rodian trader slapped Han for the win.

General Aayla Secura is somewhat underwhelming. I used to think she was great when combined with RCs and Captain Rex, but she died pretty fast everytime I used her, without dealing any significant damage.

My enemy didnt realize he left luke out where he got shot and i critted on the first 2 shots.(1 on a the first, and then on the flurry) LEaving me with 2 more shots with accurate. i took luke out and then mostly got decimated by Han solo's amazing saves lol. But hey it was fun and interesting.

Better than I thought:

Kyle Combat Instructor. Solid piece, always does at least 80 or so damage to the enemy, and has a pedigree for key crits as well.

Worse than I thought:

Probably Han GH. He is guaranteed to his one shot, and is guaranteed to miss the other. I don't know how, that is always how it goes. I for one don't want to spend 50 points on a piece that only every does 30. (Seriously whenever I or a player at my LGS play him he always misses one shot, but always hits one....it's wierd!)

I thought the Lumi JM, BO, and GMY squad would be beastly hard to hit but my friend played a Mando Squad and I got totally owned.

I have also been way more impressed with the new Kit Fisto then I thought I would be.

Mara Jade Jedi. For some reason I always skipped over her. The last two games I've played someone has used her each time and she has literally been the last piece on the board both games, err, for the NR that is. I've found her exceedingly difficult to kill.

Also Mira, I played her for the first time and wow, she can do some serious damage, especially to swarm squads.

I totally agree with you, the Whiphid is the ultimate sleeper piece in my opinion.
Throw him in with a Nyna or Nom SS squad with a Czerka (Ooglithed if you prefer), and they become Death Dealers.

I have to nod to C3PO, ED. Sure that may come off as blasphemy but with the new Zuckuss, BH, he is a good piece against him. If he hits, he stays still which is exactly where he's going to be anyway. Against any accurate shooter really.

well my plo koon jedi master beat the crap out of the new vader, plo is a beast.
i underestimated kit, he is very good w/intuition and double. i wish he had twin so he could intuition, twin & sweep, that would be awsome! master windu is overated, he's barley good than the others, he is just an average to the other mace windu's.

The new Kit Fisto, JM. I ran a triple intuition squad last week that included KFJM, Boba Merc, and Zuckass BH. It was a lot of fun, and while I thought that Shii-Cho would be easy for an enemy to manipulate, there wasn't a game where I didn't spend at least half of the game without the bonus. He's a really good piece that did a lot of the heavy lifting for the squad.

Also, I'd never run Boba Merc before, and he's really good. But I'm most impressed with Zuckass BH - I stuck a Vong OG in place and put a Rodian Diplomat next to him so he couldn't do anything. Then I stuck Shaak Tii JM in place for five rounds in a row.

I don't want to get too far off topic, but Master Windu is just a Lightsaber Defense short of being great.

Human Scoundrel. 10 base damage + Opportunist 20 + Deceptive ( from CorSec Officer) + Deadeye ( from Rodian Hunt Master) + Twin Attack ( from Czerka Scientist) = 100 damage!!! An absolute beast!

Now, I'm a new player, so I haven't learned all the intricacies with such finesse pieces, but I've got horrible luck with Zuckuss BH. He's a great piece, don't get me wrong, but in every match I've used him, almost without fail, he has died very early on. Zuckuss and I just don't get along, lol.
