My long time friend, Ken_Watson76 on here, came down one weekend (right after COTF came out). We have always played board games throughout our lives and he said he had a new one to show me. Since it was Star Wars based, I was pretty intrigued.
He pulled out his box of plastic minis, which were cool because if you've ever played Warhammer (especially Fantasy), then you know why them being prepainted is cool! We set up the map and he proceded to go through the basic rules with me. After about a half hour or so, we were ready for our first skirmish.
I really like the Episode 1-3 movies and was intrigued by the amount of characters you could get with Droids. So, I made a 100pt Droid squad out of mostly Super Battle Droids and Battle Droids (might of had 1 SBDC and a BDO for sure). I believe Ken had Quigon JM, a JWM and maybe a Knight or two. No shooters that I can remember but I could be wrong. We used the ROTS starter map, so it was a really quick engagement.
I can remember thinking "why he ran his Quigon out front so fast?". Well, I took the bait and after learning about Combined Fire, his Jedi Master was toast very quickly. Then that stupid Force Spirit thing floated onto the JWM and let's just say "Hell followed with him"! Next thing I know, this crazy, force powered Jedi is leaping into my droids and sweeping them into piles of junk. Luckily I had enough activations to shoot him down by the end of the skirmish. I believe I was left with 2 SBDs and a BDO. Very close game and in the end I won. I have been hooked ever since.
So...after all that...what was YOUR first game like?

I do remember, I picked up a RS starter and a handful of singles. It was at a FLGS in Atlantic Highlands/ Highlands New Jersey on Hwy 36 near a CVS and a Quick Check. They had set up a cool 3-D terrain map simulating a massive battle.
I played as rebels against the empire and Vader Dark Jedi hosed my whole squad by himself. The rebels dealt very effectively with the stormtroopers and Imperial officer, but Vader was too much for them. I cna't remeber the exact squad make up other than a couple of rebel troops, luke rebel and a rebel officer, and vader and a bunch of stormtroopers and some imperal officers.
It was on the death star map, (duh) and it was like two or three weeks after the launch. It's funny I didn't play at that store again until the Universe release Tourny where I came in 2nd place.
I promptly bought a pair of boosters in which Boba Fett and Tarkin had found homes in.

Darth Vader, Unleashed Thrawn General Veers Snowtrooper with E-Web x2 Felucian Stormtrooper Officer Stormtrooper with Repulsor Sled Admiral Ozzel Mas Amedda RA-7 Death Star Protocol Droid Ugnaught Demolitionist x2
======= Starting out with a small collection is pretty painful. I played very cautiously that first game. Obi-Wan and Cade never engaged, I lost a few small pieces and the game when time ran out.

I barely remember that game. My buddy and I played 100pt squads, I used Kit Fisto(CS) and IG-88(RS) and filler. My buddy used Bastilia Shan and....I have no idea what else, lol. I know I won in the end. I remember the second game better because I got destroyed. I used a General Veers Stormie swarm and he used a rebel squad consisting of chewie-3PO, Luke on Tauntaun and Nein Numb. That was a sad day for empire...

I started just before the A & E release. At the time I belonged to a Star Wars fan club called the Paducah Imperials and we were having a showing of the movies at our local library. One of the members of the group brought his minis in and with several others, he went through the instruction on how to play. My first squad was Darth Vader, Jedi Hunter and Dark Trooper Phase III. I won all three matches that day. Although I have the suspicion that they were going easy on me. I bought my first case, COTF, an my local LCS a week later and have been hooked ever since. Sadly only one of the original players I learned from still plays but I've met some other great players since and have had a lot of fun.

My first SWM match was with my friend Ted (Eroschilles) over the past winter break. I had come up with some interest in the game in the month or so before that, so I had been buying a few singles off of eBay, just based on characters I thought were cool. He came down to my place one day during break, and we decided to go with a quick match just so I could get the hang of things. We agreed on 200 points, mixed faction.
Now, keep in mind, I was ridiculously new to the game, and had about 8 pieces to my name, lol. I can't remember what he fielded, but I went with GMLS, VAR, Sith Marauder, Deena Shan, and an Uggie. I ended up winning, though I suspect he was letting me win, but it was fun!

I don't remember the first "Game" I played, I only remember it being VERY one sided when trying to figure it out with a friend.
I started when Rebel Storm came out. All I had bought were the starter and two boosters, so that's all we had to play with. The rares in those two boosters were Vader and Emperor Palpatine.
The Rebels never stood a chance, and it wasn't very fun.
I knew it would be lop-sided, so I played as Rebels. I didn't want my friend to lose interest too easily. It's hard to do anything when farm-boy Luke is your 'main guy'.

I bought the CS starter in december I believe.
Then over christmas break (Both my brother and I were in college) I think i got my brother to play one time with me (I am sure i was obi-wan). I don't remember what happened during the game, but neither of us was wowwed by the game (it was just the pieces of the CS starter, so it could have been 1 sided)
Nevertheless, I used the pieces for what I had purchased them for: the RPG. I went on to buy all of the rares off of Strikezone when the minis hit rock bottom prices (i think i paid about 2-3 dollars for each of the jedi rares) but none of the very rares.
I don't know who I was playing the game with (it took me a little while) but eventually I bought a bunch of Revenge of the Sith and Universe and played on a regular basis at CMU with the gaming group there. My favorite team at the beginning of actually playing the game (not just using for RPG) was Obi JM, Ani JK, and Agen Kolar.

i dont remember what i used, but i played my brother on the blank map, we had a strange coneception that you could only shoot six squares, save 11 meant you could only make the save by rolling 11, we didnt use special abilities other than melee/extra attack/anything that didnt replace attacks or usable on turn/replace turn. and we played light side vs dark side instead of faction rules. this was right when rots released

We did an out of the booster game. My brother had an A^E booster and I had an IE booster. I don't really remember who won or anything though.

My friend and I (Pericles) bought a starter each of Rebel Storm. After figuring out the rules we finally played a game and came to the conclusion that Darth Vader, Dark Jedi was the greatest mini ever. He simply couldn't be beaten by the whiney farm kid Luke and the rabble he had with him, and what was more amazing was that Vader didn't even need his buddies to win. Vader would force choke most of the opponent's squad, slice the rest, and the Rebels never had a chance. Many sets later, I don't even own that piece anymore as I gave it to a new player, but I still remember Vader's seeming invincibility...my how times have changed.

Its' far away... In summer 2005, I bought the ROTS Starter and about 14 booters (4 were gifts from my wife), then we came back home and I played my first SWM game with my wife using only the starter content. Then I opened my first booster (one of my wife's gift) and pulled Grievou's Wheel Bike...

I don't remember my first game, but I remember getting into the game. I bought the Rebel Storm starter and a booster for RotS.
I ignored combining fire, attacks of opportunity and - targeting rules - as I later found out. If I could see you, I could shoot you. Expect for characters with stealth.
I also concluded there was no way a rebel team could ever beat Darth Vader. Especially not Luke, Rebel. But, for some reason I was hooked and haven't quit since.

I was big into Heroclix when SWM came out, and I immediately bought the Rebel Storm starter and a number of boosters. My friends and I played, but initially weren't that impressed. It took us a few games to get into it, and obviously as each new expansion came out the game became stronger. In no time I was selling my Heroclix and playing this all the time.

I started playing shortly after the release of TFU. I had a lot of figures but had never played. I finally caught up w/the group who played at my lgs after several weeks of showing up on the "other" of "every other" week. They told me the what the tourney was (150pt mixed faction) and I sat down and built a squad as fast as I could. I was about to show these guys how awesome a squad builder I was when the "kid" of the group (about 13) said "you can't do that." He proceeded to explain that since Sith Lightning replaces attacks, I could not use Han in Stormtrooper Armor's CE to run 12 squares with my Dark Jedi Master then use Lightning. That kind of blew my whole plan since I had 3x Dark Jedi Masters and Han (can't remember the rest of the squad). So my first game saw me (31 yrs old) get schooled by a 13 yr old. But, I had so much fun that I let him beat up on me for a few more weeks till I finally figured some stuff out. Can't wait till after regionals and Gencon when our group can go back to some of those crazier type tournaments, those are the fun ones.

I started with some CS pieces and the starter set, so I only had Republic, Separatist, and Fringe pieces. My first game was a 100pt skirmish (4-way) and both factions were picked! The owner of the store gave me 100pts worth of Scout and Stormtroopers, as well as an Imperial Officer. Couldn't tell you exactly what happened, but I know I lost. Didn't matter though, I had a blast, and was subsequently hooked.
