Hey all, I have become a big fan of ARC Troopers and Republic Commandos mostly due to the Traviss novels and to a lesser extent the old Clone Wars Cartoon that aired between EII and EIII. My question is how come we don't see them (or have any references to them) in Fioni's new Clone Wars animated series?
Rex looks like an ARC (based on Alpha according to Wookiepedia), but from everthing I have read he is an "elite" clone but not an actual ARC Trooper. According to canon, ARCs were few in number, so I suppose you could say they are just not being shown, but ARCs were extremely popular characters in the old cartoon so why not use them. I mean, we have Kamas and Pauldrons everywhere, but no mention as to who inspired them and why. While we are at it, we have seen commando droids, why not clone commandos? Having commmando droids and clone commandos face off would be an exciting episode in my book.
Maybe the powers that be will bring us some ARCs and commandos eventually (its just about to finish its 2nd season), but I am left wondering why these popular characters are not shown. Does Lucas, and by proxy Fioni, dislike everything Traviss has done? Mandalorians everyone? Do they dislike what Tarkovsky (spelling?) did with the old cartoon? What's your take on this?

I agree completely, I've often wondered why they aren't in the new CW episodes. I can't really see the RC's being in it, but why not ARC's? I remeber when I first saw the ARC's on the old CW cartoon, I was like: then "These guys are da bomb!"

Why not the RC's? Just curious.

I don't think their vocabulary would get approved by CN no, they just seem a little too hardcore for the TV show, this is how it would maybe go down: Droid #1: "Oh no! Republic Commandos!" (Trips while trying to run away) Droid #2: "Look out!" (Trips and accidentally shoots Droid #1) Hardcore Commando: "Kriffin' tinnies', stang, this is humiliating!" Other Harcore Commando: (guts a Geonosian with wrist blade) "Fierfek, these blasted wetties always make a mess of my faceplate with their guts!" Young 9-year old watching the Clone Wars:"................." Lol, the ARC's were so cool though. They should've creamed Grievous easy!

The other thing is that RC's and ARC's are supposed to be the only "unique" clones, but in the CW, Lucas has all the clones with different styles, paint jobs, etc., so the RC's wouldn't really be unique any more you know what I mean? Plus he might just screw up the RC's like he did with the Mandos, which makes even more fans unhappy.

My favorite episode of season one was "Rookie's," when we were first introduced to the Commando Droids. I thought they were pretty cool!

Though a bit strange that the GAR's best Clone officers get sent on inspection missions, with no troop escort even. Maybe... I'll try and combine my Republic Commando game knowledge with Rookies to try and make some dialogue... Commando Droid 1: "Roger Roger! Bew bew! (Fires blaster and hits Harcore Commando) Hardcore Commando: "Lucky we got this tough elite stealth armor that can repel those kriffin' droids blaster shots!" (Fires back) Commando Droid: (gets hit, grunts, and gets back up) Hardcore Commando: "These stick tinnie dikuts got tough armor too! I'm all out of ammo, Other Hardcore Commando, do you got any spare clips?" Other Hardcore Commando: "Sorry boss, I used all my clips on that one Super Battle Droid. Strange that even though we're the Republic's elite, our guns are total crap..." Harcore Commando: "Nevermind, here hand me the sniper, I'll shoot the armor off this sithspitting metal piece of fierfek!" -After a long shootout, the Hardcore commandos shoot the armor off the Commando droid, and finish it off- Other Hardcore Commando: "What a battle, eh, chief? Good thing we won, I'm all out of ammo and 'nades!" (Door opens to reveal 10 Commando droids, armed to the teeth) Hardcore Commandos: "Stang."

All I have to say is that I'd pay good money to see an episode with this dialogue and you are a much better writer than anyone Lucas has on his staff.

I'd love to see the ARCs and RCs show up in the series. We'll see I guess. I could sort of see them introducing the RCs with armor developed from the Zillo beast. I kind of wondered if that was the direction they were going at the end of that episode. We'll see.
I plan to go to Celebration V this summer, and if I get the chance to, I will be asking Dave Filoni when we'll see RC/ARCs in the series. And if possible, I'll ask him that while wearing either my RC or ARC armor. :)

It would certainly mess up continuity (like that has stopped Lucas/Fioni before), as RCs were present at Geonosis...way before the Zillo beast. Don't get me wrong, if that's how they introduce commandos to the series then I'll take what I can get, but it would certainly ignore lots that have already been established...wait that's happened before too . Can you say ruined forever? Despite my irritation at Lucas at times, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with his work. I love that he created this universe, but I hate the fact that he micromanages it to the extent that he does. I mean, why sign off on something (Traviss series in my case), let the fans fall in love with it, and then pull the rug out from under us and change everything? Seems that he doesn't care about the fans at all, just the money he gets from us. He should just create the foundation and then let his universe work free from his interference according to a list of general guidlines (a bible so to speak). As far as ruining the saga forever, for me it hasn't come to that, but if he keeps destroying things that I love about his universe then that might change.

My only other complaint is Anakin. Is it truly necesary for him to be in every episode of the Clone Wars? Before production, Lucas said the Clone wars would focus away from Anakin and instead be on everyone else. Lies. Slander. Obsession with Ani. Either he's fought in every battle of the war, or he has more clones then the Clone Army. He must have a medal cabinet that's ready to bust somewhere. At any rate, the Clone Wars really haven't impressed me too much.

To be honest, overall I like the Clone Wars when it focuses on the war and not side stories that have little or nothing to do do with the war. I would like to see clones vs. droids in every episode, intrigue is ok if its balanced with action and it involves the war, no more entire shows about padawans losing lightsabers, Jar Jar adventures, and to a certain extent bountyhunters. I would also like Fioni to stop using other franchises and movies for inspiration (Kurosawa and obviosly Godzilla), it cheapens the experience for me. There is a wealth of in-house inspiration from both trilogies, novels, and the EU for him not to do that.

I highly doubt you'll see Filoni move away from using other franchises for inspiration. Lucas himself will outright admit that the original Star Wars was based on the Saturday morning serials, Buck Rogers, etc. So it makes sense that modern SW stuff would draw from other sources sometimes too. Besides, it's not like every episode has been an homage to something else. There's been a fair amount of original stuff. As for pictures....my ARC armor is in process, but hopefully done before CV. Here's my RC. :) http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/allconsumingfire209/Celebration%20IV/Ia_and_Aaron_at_CIV.jpghttp://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/allconsumingfire209/Celebration%20IV/RC_at_CIV1.jpghttp://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/allconsumingfire209/Celebration%20IV/RC_at_CIV6.jpghttp://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs133.snc1/5720_1145276325753_1642867356_403895_6745893_n.jpg
