I wish that Cay could have had affinity of some kind with Ulic, but overall he is a pretty cool figure!

2 thoughts- Ganner is freaking rad. Can't wait to float my friend Kyle in for a triple. Or how about this for 75 points: Yoda force spirit, Kyp, Ganner. Kyp has 5 force points. Ganner picks him up, floats him into your midst and KABOOM!
Thought number 2: The old republic/Hoth. You all realize right that the reason Old Republic is so good is that their pieces are super cheap to use. The exile is what...49? Lord Hoth for 44 is great. CE is pretty decent. If he gets twin, and has the exile. That's 3 twins folks...I think he's freaking rad. Old Rep in top 5 factions IMO

His commander effect is horrid in compersion to figures with effects within that range, such as Rex 501st commander. It does not matter about the extra attack CE because Obi + Rex is not that more costly for a near invincilbe ranged sheild and a decent shooter with the ability to affect all of it's followers in comperson to a pair of melee commanders with the ability to move only one. Frankly, I'm not surprised people are disappointed with Lord Hoth, he's subtle. Regardless, that interpretation of him being weak or "horrid" is false. He's actually a very powerful addition to the OR, and works very well in conjunction to what they have and adding to what they didn't have. The CE is much more powerful than people have realized as of yet. You all keep thinking it's the same thing, it's not. You move 2 at the end of Hoth's turn, not on your own turn. This makes door tricks possible, and adds a mini levitation type power, that doesn't cost a FP, and doesn't replace your attacks. Further, Hoth and Cal have strong synergy. Use Cal (who your opponent has to think twice about killing) to set off his twin. It's a movement breaker for the OR, that's new, different, and pretty useful. Moving Atton Rand into position (or out of los after a big triple twin) for example. Moving a JBM back into base for a triple. Remember, him having a CE in the OR is hardly a negative, as their main CE is the Exile, and it applies to Allies. It's like a free bonus actually that costs him nothing. At 44pts he's quite well designed. I understand a +10 looks weak, and it isn't great. But it's also not that bad either. The rest of his stats make up for it, and for a mini that can fairly easily get triple twin, it's not that big of a deal. He's a piece that doesn't look like much at first, especially considering the unrealistic expectations, but when you look twice, for his cost, and how he can synergize in a squad, he's quite a good mini actually, and helps the OR. Wysten wrote:Anakin is broken considering the faction he exists in. Any charcter that can reroll becomes a great deal tougher. Cool enough though.
Not at all broken. He'd have been an issue in NR, not as much in Rebel. He will primarily be of help to melee force users in the Rebels, which isn't a squad currently that people run a whole lot. In the more commonly played Rebel shooter squads, he's yet more tech to choose from, that doesn't make any of them particularly better because of what you will have to leave out to fit him in, just different. First point: True enough, just I guess I am expecting him to do a lot in the first place, as much as I am trying to avoid the hype rush, some of it seems to have rubbed into my mentaility. Heh Just, not sure whether it actually suits him. Subtly is not his strong point, he is a commander leading many people in one of the most burtal Jedi/Sith wars, moving a single figure 2 spaces seems underwheming. Seems an awfully small space to move any figure when levitate can litrally have them adjcent in a flash for much less or the same price, just a diferent faction. I don't have any beef with the rest of his stats and for the O.R, 44 points for that is considered a bargin. Though always stood for that a good deal of aggressive melee figures need twin first, double second anyways. Still, I would not be sad to pull him. My Watchmen and O.R Battle Masters could do with a work out since I have at least 2 of either now. Hehehe. Second point: He's still incredably cheap for what he offers. Mettle is incredable to anyone with access to evade. It is making Melee charcters mini GOWKS and the Rebels already have access to some of the most cost effective figures in the game. While it would be deadly with NR, Rebels have the same commander effects better minus Leia. It does not change the fact that a Luke Snow speeder can zip out of his range and back again without breaking as much of a sweat then use the mettle to aid his rerolled evades from the counter attack, and conbinued with reduction 10 to make him effectively 180 hp and possible repairs at the other end. Not to mention untargetable by normal means and effectively speed 8. A extra 12 points or so is nothing really when much of what they can field very cheap (within the 30 to 20 range) and that activation control is not an issue due to a 9 point piece. None of the clogs are inheriently broken, just if there is an abusable strat, it will be made. I seen it enough in Yu-Gi-Oh that some themes are just being made to be flavour of the 6/3 month period before the banned hammer hits again.

That's what I was thinking, along with Lando DS and TBSVs etc. Still, I would be more inclined to blow off Dark Force Spirit and go with Malak DlotS, Naga Sadow (who is well worth the extra 9 points), the shooters and then as much cheap fodder as I could cram in. I would tend to disagree but lets compare them: Naga has 10 less hp and 1 less df. he has poison where nadd has Sith Rage which is guarunteed Nadd has DFS where naga has storm. both got sorcery naga got illusion and MOTF 2 Nadd has a cool CE where naga has none( a mistake on Wotsies part considering he lead a massive sith army) My opinion: both have their place and Nadd has potential

I took the plunge and ordered a case today. I am not as excited about it as I was about Dark Times, but it still looks good. I can see the Rodian Diplomat replacing the Camaasi Noble in Republic teams. I would really like to pull Yoda FS.

ordered my case and couldn't be happier! This set and Dark times are by far two of my favorite because of the playability of almost all of the rares, sure there are some disappointments in this set but hey it happens with every set i'm not gonna knock it for that.
But oh how excited I'd be if my vr's were Cay, Ganner, Grievous, Hoth

LOVE Freedon! I am more or less done collecting SWM. I've got most of the pieces I want and I'm focusing more on my new game of choice Axis and Allies War at Sea, but I will make an exception for Mr. Nadd. Windu's got me pumped too.
