A rehashed character with a sloppy paint job (not even taking into account the size of the piece). At least GaW's quality is better than IE. A horrible face or paint job can ruin a piece for me nowadays. If you start collecting the pieces as more of a SW fan, you will learn to appreciate a good sculpted piece like Jango Fett, BH. Even C-3PO, ED can find a home on my shelf. Although I am a NR fan, I have a hard time accepting General Wedge. Good piece or not, his face looks akin to Dr. Evazan's. That's not a good thing. We seem to have taken divergent paths, then. As the game evolves, I'm finding it easier to focus on what I want to play with as a Star Wars fan and ignore everything else. My minis never leave the storage box except to be deployed, and I don't spend hours staring at the minis while I admire the sculpts (my sculpt admiration time lasts for about thirty seconds when I first acquire the piece). So why bother taking up space with a pretty sculpt when I'd never feel inclined to actually bring it out?

I also play the Rpg game and love having miniatures to represent Pcs and NPCs. The skirmish game is fantastic and a lot of fun to play. With all that being said I am a completist and have at least one of every piece in the game thus far, and hope to be able to continue to do so as long as possible. The next two sets are a must for me, so I pray I have sufficient funds to continue my plastic crack habit. Yeah what he said...

I go for full sets of each release. I keep 1 of each unique then work to get what ever I think is a reasonable amount of each non unique for possible squad use. That number will vary based on usefulness and point cost.

I don't get to play very much, so I'm more of a collector for collecting's sake and just like building armies. I try to get the figures I like regardless of playability, which means mostly new races and clones. I do try to get all of the clone figures (currently only missing 1), but that's as close as I come to being a completist. I shy away from collecting Rs and VRs unless they are clones just because they do cost more as singles. I have found myself going for more of the Rs in the newer sets simply because they are easier to get than in the older sets and they are the more recognizable characters.

They look great next to other SW collectibles. Instead of storing them away in a box, I would highly recommend finding a display case or something to show them off. Ultimately, I think SWM will be remembered more as a solid SW collectible rather than a miniatures game. The game is fun, but it certainly won't last forever. If the game loses interest, you might find yourself without someone to play against. What do you do with your miniatures then? Proudly display them of course.

That's why I don't want to unnecessarily expand my collection. The less space it takes up, the better.

That said, I'm not going to pass over a miniature just because the stats are bad. If the piece looks good, it's worth adding to the collection. Now obviously the standards are higher for rehashed characters like Luke, Han, Leia and Chewy. If I already have a few nice looking Hans (Carbonite, Scoundrel, Hoth, RS Han, RH Han), the next one had better be awesome to find its way into my collection.

depends on what counts as "all minis" some might want to know before answering.
I do have all sets but do not have things such as repaints or re-released minis. Not bothering to get them, so as I said what counts as all?
Vsets, have a custom for the first 4 sets but after that it gets less and less per set.
As for it being important to get every mini, did not seem to be at the time, so maybe I was just lucky in who I got in packs, I did trade for some that I did not have but would only if it was fair. never traded above there value.
Edit Just looked at when this thread started up, 2009, Is there some reason to bring back such old threads?

Where's the option that says, "Unimportant but I'm going for it anyway." 53 away (counting unique stats only). About half of those are VRs.
