The Talz is far, far from broke. In fact, he will barely get used. He falls into the same category as Capt. Antilles: a meta call. Granted, he can be brought in by Lobot, which is something that I think Capt Antilles always needed. And he is limited to Fringe followers. The +10 Dam is worthless against the bulk of generics you will find. The amount of boosts available to generics means I am fine with this CE. I mean, Uniques are still going to be the main focus of squads. Well, he could be handy for a piece like Cad. Cad's biggest weakness is hitting those pesky non-uniques. For 16 points, that is worth the price IMHO. And yes, I believe Dass Jennir is the Rebel Jedi without Melee.

I am really liking this Talz Chieftan. A cheap Antilles for the masses. Inquisitor looks fun too.

That's actually what has me so worried about the Chieftan. I mean, I like the idea, but right now I'm just seeing everyone's best defence against those **** quad-shooters evaporating. What are supposed to do now? Play Rebel or New Republic Evade 24-7?

Hmmm, generally speaking, uniques are quite overpowered in comperson to grunts anyways, the Cheiftan is just another nail in the ever growing grave. Squads not comprising of complete uniques and a couple of uggs/mouse droids have been on the fall anyways.
Still, for that reason, I don't see him being that well used.

Quote:33. Talz Chieftain UC Cost 16 HP ?? DEF ?? ATK ?? DMG ?? CE: Fringe followers get +4 Attack and +10 Damage against non-Unique characters. is this stackable with Xizors +4 att +10 damage CE for BSV's?

Nope the direct stat increases do not stack, also, he doesn't affect commanders (Vigos) according to the rumors.

Completely off topic, but: Why not use figures like Jabba CL (Cunning) and Kota (+3 Def, +3 Atk) and Reikan (Evade) then? w/Cunning +14 for 50 Damage, and you'd be able to evade shots coming your way...

Good points. The Talz coming in with Lobot could be beneficial if you have a couple Fringe pieces and are going up against Vong or Mandos or Seps Droids or Stormtrooper squads. Not ones you are likely to see in Tier 1, but more likely in many LGS games. I've played a lot of games when a +4 could help clear out some pesky mice. The damage is just bonus, but probably won't come into play too often. The other big question is if there is range 6 on the CE or not and how much staying power the Talz has on his own. There are a lot of Fringers that could use the boost especially if you bring the Talz in as the situation requires. Have you any idea how powerful the accurate merc squads will become? This is insanity at it's best. I love it. Chiss merc moves out and shoots your whole squad with +4 attack +10 damage from Thrawn/Jabba and +4 and +10 from Talz. That's a 14 or so attack for 50 against every non unique he can see. That's game over

So the Chieftan's CE is basically a grunts only matter, huh? Too bad. The piece went from a "must have" for me to a "who cares." Like others have already stated, this game has strayed quite a bit from non-uniques. A CE that involves just non-uniques is silly IMHO. The Chieftan's CE is way too situational now. Are there good fringe non-uniques? Sure. But people will still avoid playing them simply because of pieces like YoBuck or the Lancer running around.

I like the characters and abilities that have been rumored so far. Probably my most anticipated set since KotOR.
