At least from the pictures shown here, the sculpts are absolute BEAUTIFUL across the board.

Whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK at the 501st Stormtrooper then.

Or IG for that matter. The old BH version looks waaaaaaaay better than this new Dark Times one. The paint looked bad too on the DT IG.

Veers is very meh too. I prefer the scuplt for the original RS Veers.

I think the new Veers, Moff Jerjerod, and the SD officer are all related.BigGrin

We do have too many vaders, but a new Boba wouldn't be bad. Most of the sculpts are really amazing though. I wouldn't say the imperials are lacking in the melee area, but they are hurting in the unique shooter area.

As far as casual appeal for the set it is kind of blah. I like the Jedi watchman and a few fringe guys but the majority of the figures in the set I couldn't recognize. I can't imagine this set will sell well with so many mediocre remakes and the fact that the best pieces are the rares lol.

Decent, but will be as boring as IE with only 2 or 3 really desirable figures.

Agree with U, decent set but the meta isn't going to change... Still some fun minis. I rate this set 3/5.

I really like that this set has a lot of good characters in the 20-30 point range. If you're making 100 or 150 point squads then it's a treat. There's plenty you can use.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. These pieces will change the meta in more subtle ways, which is how it should be. No new super power piece (so far) to mess things up. There is a lot of Yobuck hate in this set (Togarian and quite a few generics with 40+ HP). The Watchman is a godsend to the OR. I personally believe they make playing Malak in OR worth it. Heck, in some ways they are better than a Battlemaster, as Cloak is far better defensively. And the bounty hunters are going to change things up. Bossk is a brute, and Pulse Cannon on Iggy is to be feared. The Rodian Brute will change how swap squads are played. And the Inquisitor looks to be feared, I can't wait to see him. Imperials get a great JWM substitute in the Sovereign Protector. Republic gets quite a few cheap and brutal beats in Ferus and K'kruhk. Das can get to be a nasty beat as well in either Republic or Rebel. And the 501st is quite nasty.

There are still a few pieces that haven't been fully revealed that could be game changers as well.

This is my impression of the set.

At a time where defence (evade and soresu) is at a premium this set give very little out except to tuskens which is frankly quite bizarre.

There doesn't even seem to be a mechanic that reduces the impact of evade.

We keep getting industrial repair thrown around with virtually no decent pieces to use it on.

My understanding of the designers intent seems to lessen with each set. This seems like more of a filler set than the last one.

Not everything is as obvious as a Flobi or Dash. I'm thrilled about the Watchman as well. Gives the OR another great non-unique. Of course I'm not as excited about Iggy as you are ;). Bossk, though, looks like a nice option.

From what we know of DT, the following pieces have ranged defense (cloaked, evade or LS Deflect):

Jedi Watchman - Cloaked
A'Sharad Hett - LS Deflect
K'Kruhk - LS Deflect
Trianii Scout - Evade

So yeah, pretty pitiful list. Of those 4, you can rule out Hett as a good option. His HPs are too low IMO. Deflect will only keep him alive for so long.

I'm also getting sick of seeing abilities like Industrial Repair or Crack Gunner. Until we get more pieces like Blizzard Scout 1, what's the point?

I can't wait to see what Peter has in store for the game. We should get a good idea with MotF.

Sadly, i'm not thrilled about him.

He is still in a faction that has very little tricks to deal with Dodonna, San Hill and ozzel/thrawn. It also has little to deal with rampant swapping and yobuck.

I like that the OR get pieces, i hate that it just seems to be more of the same cheap beat that offers nothing very new to teh faction. The faction needs tricks and its debatable that this piece is any better than a geohadran

I understand the frustration. The OR has very little cohesion as a faction. They need good CEs or SAs.

I'm most excited about Dengar and his one hit kill on most commanders. Sure, it would be difficult to pull off, but it could sure come in handy if pulled of right.

I think this set show similarities with the KOTOR-set in a lot of ways. Subtle pieces in the 20-30 point range that will grow with time. They may not be top tier all of them, but many looks fun to play.

Aye, your going to need a lot of the previous sets to make full use of this set I imagine. All in all, it's nice stuff and people been wanting a EU themed set for some time now anyways.

All I got to say is, GA Thrawn with Inquisitors will result in many auto 20s to Jedi.
