Bah! You guys are mostly newbs from like RotS/Universe era. LOL Now Dennis and Eric/Engineer go all the way back. Maybe Deri, but he's generally so quiet I can't recall exactly when he arrived.

Lol, you mean Universe. That was when I found out there was such a thing as a SWMs Forum! I spent a year as basically a reader of the boards, until I graduated from my Masters :) It wasn't until CoTF that I actually hit like post 10. Now Engineer, Fingersandteeth, and you are the real old timers!

No I lurked for a long time before become vocal and signing up. Remember I was in Louisana for the better part of 2005 dealing with Katrina so I did not have tons of posting time just mostly a reader.

No idea what the state of the game is, but I certainly hope it doesn't die since I just started, lol.

Well we know they're doing another set, but I think it will go at least another year.

I think that people who are looking to get it the game see how far behind they are and get a little turned off by all the catching up you have to do and we all who have been playing since it started are familiar with all the rules that have been made to a newcomer its allot to take in for some.

Well I dont think that there being nothing listed after Masters is the end of it all necessarily.

Agreed! Plenty of games have hung on for years after they stopped being promoted by their respective companies.

Indianapolis area.

Give us some info and let us see what we can do to help. Whether it mean sending you some starters to demo and give away or what. There is a lot that can be done just give us an idea of where you are and what we are up against.

I have a few venues that I could use to host tournaments, I just need to get certified in doing it or I need someone else who is certified who's willing to run them. As Uggie said, we're pretty much done with our old store for the reasons given above (and others not metioned). Unless someone knows of some other venues in Indy that host tourneys. (Besides Gamestop the place that we don't want to go back to.)

Dean any stuff like that you'd be willing to donate to the cause would be an awesome help to getting it going up here again!

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Games can hang on long after a company stops making the pieces. Some friends of mine and I play a World War I RPG that hasn't had a new edition in like 25 years, but we enjoy it quite a bit. The last installment was from TSR in the early 80's if that gives you an idea as to how old it is. And there are still a lot of players all across the country that played it. And it probably never came close to SWM's in popularity even at its height.

I'd like to add I certainly don't WANT the game to lose steam, I was just curious to see if the trend I was seeing was something that was happening in other locations. It seems almost dead here in Indy for a number of reasons.

I would like to start playing again(I haven't played sence early Dec. and I used to play like everyday)
So I would be willing to play with you(especially in tournies, because the last few squads I've played were fun squads, I would LOVE to start using some of my competitive ones!) And I know you wouldn't jip me out! :) I might be willing to put in some of my extras(sence I will be buying from Minimarket now) so once we get started I'd be willing to help! :)

Same here, and even if it does die we still have the RPG(if you haven't tried it you should!)

Wow Kevin frm my understanding there are tons of players around Indy.

Joruus I think plays in Greenwood or some area like that around Indy. You should probably message him. I know also that RIck aka Sith Assasyn is from there.

That just me naming couple right off the cuff I know there are more.

PM Joruus Cboath on here or on Gamers. He should be able to tell you where he plays. He also runs an RPG on sunday nights I think at their store. But check with him he would be able to answer better than myself.

Yay! New people!

The game won't die as long as there are people willing to play it. BigGrin

For me it was the same. I had been playing minis for about 2 years before I even knew that there were sites like Wizos at the time. The guys we played with, And there were about 10 of us almost 5 years ago had our own group who played about 2 times a week. We never played at any LGs . Then as the Guys moved on to other things, Myself and my brother in Law were the only ones playing. That is in our own close knit groups. We decided, that since he lived in San Jose, and I Live in Detroit that we'd try Vassal. Its been great, but we've had to teach new ones the game. It's just as enjoyable, even though the game has evolved, And even though I usually only play on Vassal. I LOVE THIS GAME!!

Yes I know Joruus and have played a few tourneys with him. The store we played at was the one we referenced above and why we are looking for a new venue (certainly through no fault of his). Not sure his feelings on that, but I also know the guys in his RPG group as I ran an RPG with a couple of them as well. ThumpUp

The store in Greenwood is the only place around Indy I'm aware of that even holds the tournaments, and myself and several players won't be going back there anytime soon because of what's gone down repeatedly. I really don't want to use names or drag anyone through the mud so I won't say much more about it other than we're just looking for a new venue and I have a few locations that are willing to host but I'll need other players. I am pretty confident we'll have them, I just wanted to see what everyone's feeling was as to if the game is dying or not.

Yeah, that was when Engineer was on 2 kids.

LOL. I dropped DDM as soon as SWM hit the scene. Sithborg and I played for almost a year before we had some folks join us at the FLGS.

Kids interest does increase and decrease for no apparent reason.

I heard that, my son, 13, goes in fits and start's one month he can't get enough of SWM and the next he's like.........nah I don't feel like it. Huh <-----me---->Confused
When the weather warms up I might see about heading out to play in Indy with you guy's. I used to live on the border in IL, but moved back to NY last year. In the summer my wife and I try to get around the country. We wanted to check out the indoor water park they have in Indy. Last summer we went to the Boston Aquarium, Six Flags and the Baseball Hall of Fame<----Awesome! ThumbsUp

I know that there are some groups, but they meet up around Broad Ripple, Carmel, Avon, So basically NORTH. Greenwood has/had a large group since the LGS you are speaking of WAS more friendly to let us have free dci tournaments and provide prize support (heck they even bought and sold singles). People are everywhere around here, but it takes some time to find them.
