Haven't been in the game long biggest game i have played so far is 200pt tourny. Though i would like to play some bigger battles.
I have seen some big games played at Origins, one year a huge Battle of Hoth that i dont even know how to explain in text how the tables were set up. but there were some where in the neighborhood of 6 to 9 AT-AT's.
The big games i have seen at Origins play on a table where they with out squares they are using tape Measures. Do most of you still play on maps with squares?
In the 1000pt games and bigger you use all the command effects? If so Imps and Republic can make some sick piled up command effects with Mos Amedda, though all of them can with Mouse Droids only being 3 pts, if you have that many Mouse Droids i guess.

My brother and I decided to make a 1800 pt battle occur using 6 300pt squads each. To say the least it took some time

Did something like MercMoose's snow battle when the AT-AT came out
The LGS made a 12 X 8 table
Covered it in styrofoam
Had echo base, the trenches, turrets, the wampa cave (with shredded troopers) and a massive cliff with caves in
And then they used like 4 AT-ATs
Don't remember the points as it was soooooo many years ago
But 4 AT-ATs should give you an idea
I have a custom wooden table I use for republic battles
Me and my vod'an KC like to set up with a platoon of clones split between us and then have endless waves of droids bear down on us
My half of the platoon - lead by General Aayla Secura - was 7X efficient
I took out 2,100 pts of droids with 300 pts of clones and Aayla
That was fun

Yeah, my custom painted wood board - about 5 by 3 1/2 feet - has a grid on it
I use custom terrain
Did a battle with my brother
Cody took out his BD Officer from 3 feet away with one shot
He was pissed O_O

I don't know what Wannabe Mexican is talking about, it was brilliant fun! I lost about 7 grunts by rolling 1s and ended up after the second round by having a base attack of 20 on practically every follower. But despite that it was fun and a brilliant outflanking manuever allowed me to drop loads of rockets and splashes into his melee army.
I think we agreed to limit Dark Jedi Vader to a bonus of 4 but still lose the pieces if I roll a 1. Also we didn't have all the rules and were factionless, and stacked GOWKs 4 ontop of all other effects too. It was a good lesson on not overdoing it.
However 1000 point melee only wars are appealling.

Personally, the rules need a lot of streamlining for mass play. Heh
The largest game I had was everyones lightside figures vs darkside, roughly 700 Light to 450 dark, it got messy needless to say, the light side figures really plaid off eachother.

I LOVE BIG battles! Here's a Hoth battle I was in. Scott is the guy in the hat and Joseph is beside him. I think it was 1500 points of Rebels versus 1500 points of Imperials: Here's a 1000 points of Predators versus a 1000 points of Aliens: Here's 500 vs. 500 point Rebs versus Imperials I played: I love the big battles and they do work without any extra rules. You will need a Rodian BS Vigo to protect your troops from Furious Assault and Blaster Barrage but you'll still have lots of points for other things. Big battles may take a long time to play so section off an afternoon or an evening but, for me, EPIC scale is so satisfying it's worth it. It's like something else I won't say. Don't rush it. Just relax, take your time, and enjoy it. It's more memorable too.

For the really high points values (>500 per side) I think it's a much better idea to adopt Warhammer-ish rules on a 3D battlefield. Move everyone 6'' instead of 6 squares, and form "squads" out of bunches of stormies or rebel scrubs or whatever. It makes LOS way easier to figure out (just lean over and eyeball it), which saves a lot of time. I would also recommend having each person move their entire army at once, for the same reason. With dozens and dozens of figures on the table it works out just fine.
Of course, this kind of assumes that you have a whacking big table and a bunch of 3D terrain to throw on top of it. It's not that hard to make though, plus it's a lot of fun.

If you enjoy massive battles you should stay tuned for my mass terrain battles. 75% complete I just need to make a few more tiles.
