I think the combination of the pretty great things we got in Dark Times, plus the comment of "going out with a bang", caused me to set the bar a little high for this set. So, I'm slightly disappointed. Granted, there are certain things that I'm really happy about, but I find myself being happy about only 4-5 pieces, compared to 10-15 for previous sets.
Overall, I think this will prove to be a fairly fun set. Should be good for sealed events.

I will agree with you on that about sealed events. Wondering which Dejarik am I going to pull( alot of them got decent stats somehow!), then throw away for lack of wanting to store them? Otherwise should be a fun sealed event set.

Ok...not going to lie, I feel like I bought a wasted case. I mean yea I like the new force spirits and Ganner, but beyond that not too thrilled. When I heard masters of the force was the last set...I thought there would be a ton of new force users, namely NR and Republic and Imperial pieces...yea all of 5 new pieces and only really liking 2 of them...the Dejarik pieces don't make any sense to me (yes I like Dejarik, but why did they have to be in this set???) Grievous seems way weaker and lacking in special abilities than I originally thought he would be. Still going to be fun to see what I pull (always is), but this set overall was a huge disappointment in my eyes.

when i look at the stats, they seem like they were a bit rushed when they were made, nothing makes any of the republic jedi different really, everything feels so generic, same thing on the commander effects

I'll by a case for sure. I don't think I'd ever use Lando for his cost but other than that no disappointment whatsoever in my eyes.

I think the majority of folks on here were thinking that WOTC was saving the best for last. Regrettably, that's not how it played out.
I am only interested in Freedon Nadd, and that's only so he can join all the other Sith Lords on my shelf display. Ganner is great for what he does, but, after his slaying of hundreds of Vong, I had expected more. Grievous=Suck. Ghosts are kinda cool. Republic jedi= unneeded. Lord Hoth is somewhat disappointing, Cay and his legacy are cool, but it has a low chance of succeeding. Empire=Meh. Han and his ol' buddy Lando are kinda neat, but I'd probably not run either. The un/c aren't really even worth mentioning.

im very dissapointed in my opinion prob on of the worst sets they have ever had. very light side heavy, which doesnt bother me that theres more light side but those that are in there are very heavy point costs and the dark side got no love on this set. grievous is laughable. labeled a warlord? of what? the carebears? i was kind of hoping he would still have the force. and lynn is decent i guess for the point cost but come on, 1 force point and being the hand of the emperor but haveing no force powers?! makes no sense to me. im probably wrong but thats how i feel. i was excited to get a new vong piece just wish it was a little more formitable. very glad i didnt buy a case.

Am I the only one who sees awesome potential in a good deal of these pieces? This set is composed of some pretty competitive pieces that do wonders if you use them right. Heck, they bodyguards in this set alone are fantastic. I call shenanigans because any question phrased in the form of a complaint draws complaints.

I just got Master Windu, Arden Lyn, Kit Fisto, Jedi Master and Lando. Not only does Kit Fisto look cool as H-E double hockey sticks, but I'm totally going to use both him AND Master Windu a lot!

Personally, I'm pretty stoked about opening my case....which is on hold at my LGS until I return home this weekend. As a collector, I am really excited! Lots of Uniques with cool sculpts. As a player, I think there are some cool new abilities that can be incorporated into existing squads. I think Cay's Legacy will be a really fun. Remember, Cad and Boba can't reroll the save in most squads....may think twice about delivering a final blow. I also really like Longshot +20, will change games with a crit roll. Ganner is very playable and will be welcomed in a lot of NR builds. The Jedi Instructor is just plain wicked....can't believe he's uncommon. Yeah, Grievous and Freedon are a little disappointing and I don't understand the excitment over Dejarik, but I'll take them anyway. Love the set, can't believe it's the last one.

DarthReeves wrote:Whoah whoah whoah, folks, remember, you can't declare it crap until you've had time to make them work in your squads. For Example: Yoda Force spirit charges Kyp. Ganner levitates Kyp into your enemy's home base...and KABLOOEY!
Give it some time. The best players at this game are the ones who can take "meh" abilities and make them work magic. Think outside the box and rock this thing. I love it personally.
No it didn't add anything to GGDC armies or Han Cannon armies...who cares. Those squads suck to play with anyways. Old Rep uncommons are wicked! But spotter is just so... so.... bleh.... does anyone actually combine fire? Let alone used spotter?

Meh, I still think people were thinking we were getting the golden set, when instead we got a standard set. There are plenty of powerful options in the set, if people are willing to look. But do to expectations, they are unable to. A lot of old squads get a great boosts, and some interesting new squads will be made.

I read it wrong and I am a little disappointed. Along with the stats I am disappointed with the placements of characters. Seeing as this is the last set that Wizards will be putting out I was hoping for a bigger bang. I think they put a lot more rebels and republic. The break down so you don’t have to look your self is this Faction-MOTF-Total OR-5-33 Sith-1-38 Rep-6-160 Sep-1-98 Reb-6-140 Imp-2-140 NR-1-36 Fringe-16-249 YV-1-15 Mando-1-20 I think that they schould have evened out some of the factions when some don’t even have half as much as the Reb and Imp granted I know a lot of them are repeats such as Darth Vader, move him to Sith (something I was really hoping for) and we even things up some. Also I think they should have put Yoda and Anakin spirits into NR (I don’t see how Anakin is anywhere near rebel) and once more a little more even. I was also kind of hoping that they would have decided to make this an old 60 set instead of 40. But o well all is done and over with now. =(

The Yuuzhan Vong have essentiallly become the Taco Bell of factions; the same 6 or 7 ingredients thrown around in different amounts with different prices.
But really, this set is disappointing because most of the uniques bore me. They would have bored me had it not been the last set. I don't really care that it's the last set, to me, the uniques are disappointing and the Non-uniques for the most part are pretty cool. The dejariks grow on me every day.

First, this has to be one of the heaviest boosters in a while. Got my case and it definitely had some heft to it.
I'm pretty happy with this set. I can understand people's disappointment in regards to some of the uniques. However, we've seen a trend lately that they usually throw in some junk VRs and this set is no different. Grievous certainly fits that bill, but at least he isn't as hard to use as C3PO, Ewok Deity.
The Dejariks are pretty neat and have some nice sculpts. You are definitely getting some good hunks of plastic with your purchase. You could hurt someone with the Mantellian Savrip and Kintan Strider if you want. Ganner is a great piece, as are the two Force spirits. The OR is getting some solid additions and even the Sith have a solid piece with Nadd.
The Republic continues to get solid pieces (nice to see some good Jedi in the mid-30's to 40's) and an awesome addition with the Rodian Diplomat.
Rebels didn't need help and while Lando and Han aren't going to be the first picks for many, I can see Han surprising some people. Since he does count as Han Solo according to his card, he can be brought into the NR!
The Empire get some decent nods, many people are singing the praise of Vader and Arden Lyn is cheap enough to fit many squads well.
Yuzzhan Vong and Mandos get a nod, but I've never felt they ever need to be on the same level as the main factions. Their new additions seem to keep with that line of thinking.
Certainly to say "Star Wars minis is going out with a bang" is a bit misleading. This does not necessarily feel like that kind of set. However, as others have pointed out, it is in line with other sets of recent memory. Glad I got my case!

Quote:Since he does count as Han Solo according to his card, he can be brought into the NR! That would be incorrect. While he counts as Han Solo for the purposes of Unique, he does not have the words "Han Solo" in his name ans is thus not eligible for Jaina's Affinity.
