Thats such a bull**** move. I bet SWM makes them some of their best money, and they are kicking it out the door. Why not Axis and Allies, or some game with a lower player community? MOTF will probably be a reprint set of all the "best" characters. The game still has so much potential, but yes, they keep screwing it up. Man this is stupid.

I do hope all the talk of the game continuing is true. This is such a great game and such a wonderful community.
I guess we could see the writing on the wall, but to read about it today still really sucks Someone else on this thread mentioned this, not sure who did but this is a great point it might of been Lobostele, anyways someone said something simular to this, that by them dropping the game it could turn into a good thing, For one the game for the last few sets before i would say GaW were horrible. Ridiculous stats givin too really low costing figs which i thought was horrible. & sets before GaW had me almost out of the game & by them doing stuff like that made me think that they just didnt care about the game anymore. Now IMO, i have no doubt what soever that this game will be picked right back up by another company, now by that happening we might get a new company that has more care for the game than this previous one. It just seems that the people making these sets stopped being fans of starwars & were basically just making whatever. So by someone picking up the game & again in my mind i have no doubt at all that someone will, but by someone else picking up we might get better love for the game, & more accurate stats & affinty's etc. from a new company that im sure by them picking it up means they have love for the game. So basically it could be a better move for the game than everyone thinks so trust me someone is gonna pick this up.

Theres mutimillion dollar toy/game company's out there that would do it im sure. I think when LOTF, KOTOR & CW's came out is when WOTC best promoted the game, i would see boosters in target & toys r us & in my opinion the game was soaring, those were some of the best sets to come out. & then all of a sudden its like WOTC just totally lost interest in the game. But theres just a ton of company's that Lucas has delbt with in the past & any # of those company's could gain interest in the game IMO.

I mean look at the fan base of this game, its ridiculous. I never played any of the other games that WOTC put out. Never played your D&D's or Magics etc. But the fan base for this game is just ridiculous. You have Vassal's, you have so many other sites other than this & WOTC that have SWM's sections. You have so many sites that sell boosters etc. for this game. I mean IMO seeing as the StarWars name period isnt fading, like the shows, games & even maybe newer movies, that the StarWar's name is gonna keep up. Basically theres probably millions of fans of starwars that this is just another branch of the name that people can interact with the name.
I mean the fan base behind just this game alone, not even the people who love starwars as the name meaning movies & whatnot, just this games fan base alone wont be un-noticed by a company, & again this could turn out to be better for the game meaning we might get a company with some fresh interest for the game & love for Starwars that it might get promoted better & more accurate stats & whatnot. I think if you have faith that the game wont die then it wont, & you'll feel better. The StarWars name is just too big for someone not to pick this up i just think.

carnorjax1 wrote:Thats true, Lucas could pick up the game, but I don't think he would Well you have Lucas, you have all of the toy companies they deblt with, other toys company's, basically any company that deals with games & entertainment period could pick this up even if they havent deblt with Lucas in the past in my opinion could pick this up. Theres just so many company's out there that deal in this type of product & with the fan base behind this is ridiculous. Its got the potential to be a gold mine if promoted right etc. which i feel WOTC didnt do well in my opinion. Like i said LOTF / CW's set era's in my opinion were promoted the best. I never played games like this previous to this game but always kept my nose in what was out & to play & it was around them sets when i started playing & became aware of the game. So i just dont feel this game is gonna die & while we sit & wait for someone to pick it up we have so much out to where the game is gonna be good for years to come.

Keep in mind, Wizkid's IP, along with both the Marvel and DC licenses were picked up by an unknown company (which then renamed itself apparently).

Chances are, I am probably going to buy practically anything that is essencal up at least 3 different factions (Grunts, perhaps, but mainly central charcters that may be harder to fine later.) So that I can lend stuff out on occation for fun use. Probably covering mandolorian, Republic and NR, and hope that the others can cover Seps (Though, I will probably get whormsome and durge BH for living seps) Rebel and Imperial, so we can have themed sessons with verious builds.
Still, I plan on playing it and to be honest, the support is none existant in my area of England anyways, so I am used to it. It's a pity though, and I really hope that a company can help out to provide publician to the game and give it the advertisment that is so lacking at the moment. Star Wars fans here just don't know it exists. If it is picked up, I really hope the advertisment is improved across the board, because if it's anything wizards has failed, aside from the updates, it's the awareness campain.
Still, I am far from bored from the game, just a pity this had to come at a time when I was considering giving up another hobby for this. ><;

im kinda pumped. i think its going to encourage more customs, someone is going to really do "the lost 20" and put cards out for distro. its kinda nice to see the endless pit of minis is finally going to have an end. the fans will keep it going just like all other games.

Thats the spirit, i mean i cant say it enough, the fan base is just to big for this game to go under & a company will see that. As sithborg mentioned look at all the other things that got picked up from unknown company's & who knows this game could be what makes a new company. & i just think that for someone to pick this up its gonna be someone who has love for StarWars & i think its gonna be better for the game seeing as you never know what you have till its gone :0)... But yea the custom's people make will be ridiculous...

Disappointing but there's a good chance another company would take over the line, I mean if DDM is still running, why can't our community do the same? I mean look at it, this is still STAR WARS and we have one of the best gaming communities right? I'm very hopeful for the future. All will be well. Annoying though, first heroclix (that came back) and now this. With any luck SWM will be back even stronger within a few months.

But how will the game change? Will characters be given square bases and the ability to "play anywhere!" Will minis come in blister packs, or single characters that can be bought? Will it still be the game we all love to play anymore?

I feel that the only changes that will occur IMO would be promotion & i think the game will be hit with booming voice lol to get it out more. Maybe more love for the game to get more accuracy & just feel the love in the game again from the company. I dont think too many dramatic changes would happen though

Although people here may not care I'll lament the lose of the RPG even more despite it having more versatility built into it.
This may be insensitive but at least WotC outright killed their support of SWM instead of giving it a premature death like they did with DDM. Sure DDM continued for a few sets after the MAJOR rules overhaul which (temporarily?) voided many older pieces but as far as I was concerned when DDM2.0 came out DDM was dead to me and SWM is lucky to avoid that fate.

While I am shocked, and sad to see the game go, I am thankful the game was all one version. All the pieces I have can play together. The main thing I personally hope is that the game is picked up by another company is that the miniatures be the same size and look. Meaning circle bases and same scale. I could handle a different rules set. Simply because I know if the miniatures are produced, someone in our current community would convert that stats over to the current game we have. Sadly if we get a new company to take over the game, I bet we see a ton of Lukes, leias, Vaders, Yodas, Anakins, and Stromtroopers before we see a lot of the EU and movie characters that were never made. (if even then)

This is a sad day... But after thinking about it I am starting to see the bright side: lower prices, and end of the license "bang", and nice, balanced custom stats (I hope). The good or bad thing is now I might start playing magic. I wanted to a few months ago but didn't have enough $. By spending less on SWM I can finally play it!

This game's fan base is a real high point of why it will be picked up again. Also like i said a million times already on here, the name StarWars period is a seller & a company will see that.
