I like the set, not for what it adds or doesn't add for gameplay, but rather how much it helps in the rpg department. We get a lot of stuff we've needed for a long time, like a generic sullustian and some very cool looking figures with the Dejarik creatures.

To say that the dejariks are not competitive is wrong, opinion or not. Better stats, yes. But at double the cost, he better be better. He is a Large base fig, causing quite the roadblock. Zuckuss is easy to move around, the Ng'ok, not so much.

Ever since the beginning, especially with combined fire, HP is far more valuable than Def, especially in THAT point range. I have barely begun experimenting with Pawn of the Darkside as well...

Initially, i was a bit dissapointed with MotF but after seeing the set play i think there are some great pieces.
Cay Lord Hoth Freedon Ganner Saesee Plo kloon Vader Kit Fisto
are great pieces that should give constructed formats some good options.
the OR and republic got a great non-unique with the trainer and the healer might find some good use to heal Visas. However, i thought the non-uniques in theis set overall were lacking. The chiss troopers are nice in sealer but will porbably struggle to find a spot in constructed.
I was a bit dissapointed with Han and Lando but the rebels really don't need much help so i guess its not a big deal.
I was also dissapointed that the seps only got a BDO but that is such a required sep piece that it was due for a reprint (how many sets ago?)
The Dejariks are basically, imo, for the collectors so they can have or set up the classic dejarik board on their desk or game room. As figures they have limited use although a 90 HP large based fringe bodyguard is pretty tasty.
The ghosts have some uses but, like dejariks, i think pander more to the collectors than gamers on a competitive level. You can set up a diorama of RotJ final scene pretty easily now.
So its not the best set, but not the worst. They at least touched every faction.

I can't wait to get home tomorrow and open up my case. I also can't wait to start playing with the Dejarik monsters. I think there is great potential there.

2 cents: I love this set, I agree with everyone saying this is how the progression should have gone all along, by fleshing things out and giving different fun options for squad building, as opposed to the newest game breaker being what everyone relies on.
Awesome character selection, good sculpts, and fun ideas. Chiss Trooper? Taung? Blood Carver? Toydarian? Djariks? Bith Jedi Healer? Saesee Tinn in wicked armor? All awesome.

Well, the set gets better the closer you look.
Just going through what each faction gets:
OR Lord Hoth sure isn't the beast we were wanting, but he's still a great piece. The ability to have triple/twin relatively easily shouldn't be overlooked. Plus his CE is great for setting up his squad members for their attacks (I'm thinking Atton). Cay is really interesting, and his Legacy ability will make you think twice before offing him. The Jedi Instructor is a fine non-unique commander too, even better in the republic though.
Sith Nadd is a cheap Sith Sorcerypiece, and his CE is for allies, so it can be more versatile than Malak's. I see him being a bit tougher to bring down than Malak too.
Republic The Instructor can be awesome here. Also, Plo, Saesee, Kit and Monn are great pieces for their cost. The Rodian Diplomat is underrated. It can cost 4 and attack in the right builds. Super stealth just got VERY hard to play vs the Republic.
Separatists The BDO reprint has been wanted for 5 years.
Rebels The 2 ghosts are fantastic pieces.
Imperials Lyn is surprisingly good. The new Vader is awesome. We all wanted a Vader like this and for once wizos didn't screw it up. The synergy with the 501st clones and bring 501st Rex to the Empire (where he actually is a much better piece) is fantastic.
NR Ganner is the best piece in the set IMO. Giving the NR a movement breaker is huge. Levitating GMLS may actually be a way to make him competitive at 200, but it works even better with Mara, giving her scary range for her LS Assault. The Yoda Ghost is also a sweet addition for the NR, and he will likely see more play here then the Rebs.
Mandos The Taung Warrior is a cheap grunt with access to heaps of CEs, just what this faction needed.
Vong See above. The Far Outsider is nice because of cunning, and he can go with the Subaltern.
Fringe A lot of the Dejarik pieces are fine additions to specific factions, especially the Houjix, I'll take a 90pt Bodygurad any day. The Chiss Trooper has got potential I think. The Toydarian, crappy as he is, is a 5pt swapper with flight, so he's maybe ok. The Sullustin Scout will also have his uses. There are probably others I haven't mentioned.

The Toydarian has a small base so swapping him will be made difficult. Panaka can't swap him, and Thrawn limits you to swapping him out with another small based mini, so an uggie or Bomo Greenbark or other tiny thing. Hmm, with Bomo that may have to be looked into actually.

Ahh I haven't seen the actual fig yet. Small base huh. Yes, Bomo in the right Thrawn squad could be fun.
