Most of what I have run including bare bones that won Pa regional don't use Pellaeon or Ozzel, but I do recognize that they make a better build. Rival with them would be fine with me. (Rival name contains Admiral is easiest.).
What I have run has more tough match ups: Bastila, 100pt Dooku, any repulse or area effect force power. Pellaeon cancels them but my squads were vulnerable. 15 activations plus Dodonna or San Hill outactivates me. Finals against the Tantives was in no way an autowin, and if I faced the double lancer it would have been an auto loss. Bare bones has trouble with GOWK - can win but not an auto win because the defenses are way high and there is no force bubble. But with the tough matchups it leaves more room for more firepower so some of the rock matchups turn into real autowins instead of just an advantage.
Reserves can be dropped... Not needed at all and can cause random auto wins.
The problem we seem to have right now is the same problem we have had for years. Some people want to play a particular type of squad. Another strong squad crushes that type of squad. For years it was the swarm squad hated out of existence. Now it seems to be the rock squad. Rock is just a lot more popular, and there isn't as much variety available with scissors squads. So people hate what we have now.
I think that a couple of anti bravado abilities would work wonders. +10 defense when attacked by a lower cost enemy. +4 +10 when attacking lower cost. Put that on a 15 cost piece with 50 hp 17def Evade , and it will slow Daala some. You shouldn't have that+10 def on a 40 cost piece but on a cost 15 piece it makes it riskier to go with a pure swarm.
At this point every faction could use a sub 20 piece that can deal 20dmg consistently to 3 to 5 enemies at once but the damage is unboostable and possibly only works on lower cost enemies.

Dr Daman wrote:FlyingArrow wrote:Curious - what is Daman's post errata record against yobuck/lancer/luke+Leia? I only played against the Lancer twice in the competitive arena this season and easily won both games. BUT.... those games were at a 222pt tournament. I played against a naboo death shot troopers squad and won that game in 10 minutes, but only due to a bad positioning of Mon Mothma. I don't think Daala is a gatekeeper. I don;t think I'm being egotistical when I say that I'm very very good with my Daala/Raxus squad and that's why I've won so many games with her. It's not as easy as "run a trooper and shot stuff". There are some very tactical moves that you have to make to turn a losing match up into a winning one. In saying that, she DEFINITELY doesn't need Imperial Reserves 20 and I think it should be removed. The 222 tournament was in February before the errata. So no matches post-errata against them? What about practice games or playtests?

way too many cloaked pieces the neo capt's CE vong gaining "aggressive negotiations" ....then they throw a bug and cannot be attacked back the stacking of so many damage boosts that a vong w/twin did 50/40 to my piece I'll add more when I think of them

After just getting back into the game after a couple of year Hiatus, I have to say that it is good seeing you guys still going at it after all these years! Johny B, I can appreciate the viewpoint expressed. Perhaps some of those things affected my viewpoint of the game but more so just life in general being so busy. I'm making an effort to get back into following the game again more. Liked the new vsets Great seeing your guys posts though
