If you're gonna pull up someone on Taun vs. Taung, you may wanna run a spellcheck over the rest of your post before you do...

Boy, sure glad I didn't break out my rant on how the Mandos shouldn't have been a faction in the first place. And just remember; one piece you feel is uneeded is anothers favorite.

The Taun gives the Mandos something they highly needed: cheap fodder. Look at those stats, and tell me that doesn't give you a reason to break out the old Unique commanders you CAN'T use with the current mandos due to cost.
Hey Sith, your wrong sorry bro. First off its Taung warriors not Taun. Second your happy they gave you a 8 point piece, thats melee? I understand your point however i don't agree, let me tell you why. A captain is 23 Taung - 8 x 3 Mouse Droid -3 = 50 points This is just an example of a taung squad, anyone that plays mando's would put in a captain for those nice twin attacks. Sure you could put in a Mandalore for at least 68 points which would make this have to be a 150 point squad. Let me ask you if this looks anywhere close enough to beet a speedy cannon? The answer is no. In my post i was asking for cassus fett, and you called me out saying that this piece is what mando's need? How the hell do you figure. I would much rather have a r7 droid, for override, then a 40 point melee character with 6 attack. Ask any experienced player and they will tell you that the 8 points it cost ofr these guys could be much better spent on fringe characters. Plus don't forget the point cost its going to take to make these guys good enought to do some damage. I was asking for cassus, which you thought was a bad idea. If you know anything about mandalorians you would know that he was Mandalore's field general. A piece like cassus would of hopefully been like a riekeen or wedge. It would of cost a lot more points because he was a fighter and not just a general. However i was hoping he would have a good CE. Lets face it Mando's are actually a preety good fraction, there just missing some good CE's. I was hoping for evade for mando's or twin for all allies. I was just hoping for a good unique piece that would give them that extra little push they needed to be tier 1. However i got some 8 point solider that nice to look at, at first yet will die quick with melee and no defensive moves. Wizards made SWM, yet some of the fractions just got safted up the ass. Vong have only 3 uniques and mando's only 4. As opposed to Rebels that have over 50 or so. What was the reason? It can't be price. If you look at the most expensive figure's most of them aren't from the movies, but are from the expanded universe. Right now on bloomilk, the top 3 most expensive pieces are 1.boba fett, bounty hunter 2.Darth Revan 3.Aurra Sing Boba Fett is in the movies yet he only has a total of about maybe 12 scenes, with maybe 4 talking lines. (that's being nice) Revan isn't even talked about in the movie he's from the video game KOTOR. As for Aurra Sing, she's in the episode 1 for about a tenth of a secound in the pod race. She's popular from comics and books just like fett. (Fett's popular because lets just face it fett's the best, theres no question about that.) My point is EU characters are there biggest seller's why wouldn't they make more. I also checked the price, and for single pieces in a fraction mandalorians are the most expensive fraction. Which is because there the most wanted Sith, i don't think i have to explain supply and demand to you. After all this is said, it leads me to wonder why the hell they wouldn't make more unique mando's? The answer is simple, there idoits. Thats why the games not going to be made anymore. It hurts me to say this, and for everyone that may get mad by me saying this, take a secound and think. Did WOTC really make your favorite SWM piece? I know they didn't make mine. It would of been a Boba Fett, Mandalore. I hope that you can see just why i wanted cassus and why i said what i said sith. Well, how else do you attract new players? If a new player sees a game that has Han, Lando, Grievous in it, and he's only seen the movies, he's interested. The same player sees a game containing Thrawn, Dash Rendar and Mandalore the Abominable( ), he is confused and uninterested. There is a solid amount of us who like seeing EU pieces, but the potential new players, limitless. The possibility of way more money appeals to WOTC more then our demands for A new Bane, A Mando Jaina, Shimraa, and all the other crap we ask for ceaselessly. You can't exactly say they have much incentive to make us the characters we want after GMLS. People demanded the uber Luke, WOTC made him, and those same fans turned around and ripped up WOTC for making him "Broken". BTW, I would hardly say Boba isn't a main character from the movies.

Absolutely. Its a good way for GMLS to not spend all his FPs early in the game.

I think this set's great. As for the whole Eu thing there are 7 rares that are Eu (Grievous gets a nod because he's a cyborg in the movies). And then there are the aliens. I'd say a good half of the aliens aren't easily recognizable as something that appeared in the movies.
Now from the standpoint of someone who doesn't read much of the eu:
They have to put recognizable characters in the set. First off do you think the majority of the people making the game know who Lord Hoth is? I sure as heck didn't know much about him. But I definitely know who Han is. Who doesn't?
But that being said they also need to balance in some Eu stuff. I had no idea who Cade Skywalker was when I got into this game. But then I saw his piece and was like "I've got to know who this guy is." So I looked him up and got into Legacy. It's a great comic I never would have known about if it wasn't for the piece.
There's definitely a place for both. Instead of being upset that we didn't get all the people we really want, let's step back for a second. Let's just be appreciative of the fact that we're getting one more set before it's all said and done. The pieces I really wanted to show up aren't in the set. The one piece that I got of them all was Cay Qel-Droma. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the others. I see too many people getting pissed lately. Well there's no point to it. The game may be over and we can't change that. We may not ever get that piece we really wanted.
We've all had fun playing this game. We've all gotten to win some and lose some. And hopefully we had fun in the process. Let's quit whining and try to move forward from here. If you really want that piece, then give some other company a good reason to pick up the brand. And I'm thinking if they a see a community that's constantly at odds with each other they may not want to do that (In my opinion though we mostly all get along).
That being said, a couple of my pleasant surprises for the set so far: All of the old republic pieces we have stats for, Darth Vader, Voolviff Monn (Sp?), and Arden Lyn (I never played that game but a chick with a robotic arm seems pretty sweet to me).
Anybody else have some pleasant surprises to add to that?

I'm pleasantly surprised that Ganner made the cut. I love that guy. I agree with you: Too much negativity about the set. It looks awesome. I'm looking forward to being pleasantly surprised at Han's stats since his CE will benefit my New Republic of love. I gotta dig this set. I was a little confused about another Kit Fisto so soon, but oh well right? Who cares, I think it's gonna be great. ESPECIALLY as an open booster tournament. Unless of course you pull a force spirit and Lando...that would be a tough one to win hahaha

Well said. Now I will say that I'm a bit more of a SW's geek than most. I was reading about the EU years before I even knew this game existed. However, I understand perfectly why remakes of Han and crew are necessary. Think about it. A gamer knows a few characters from the movies and decides that SWM is the game for them. They are hoping to pull our complaints from the box..., and maybe a few packs in they get that Han Solo that we've been grumbling about. Now that they're happy they take a look at what they've collected so far and then the residual "and who the heck are these guys?" phase kicks in. Now they are curious as to who Mara Jade/Kyle Katarn/Ulic/Krayt/Sion/Bane/Mandalore/etc. are. A few even start looking it up. And then what happens? BAM! They're hooked on the EU. New stories with new characters, force powers, politics, philisophical/theological views..., and all the history for those who love looking into the past/ all the future events for those who desperately wanted to know what really happened after ROTJ shot to credits. And it all happened because the new gamer got what he wanted but ended up with a whole lot more. In my experience, people need a little bit of something they know to pique their curiosity and inspire investigation into what they don't know. So yeah, I didn't really want another Lando or Han, but hey, someone else really really really does. Also, I can't complain in the least. I got exactly what I wanted. Lord Hoth. BALLER!!!

I think it's an OK set to go out on myself - people have been asking for Pre-Op Grievous for as long as I can remember (myself included).
And from my personal 'What Minis Do You Want To See' list over on the WOTC boards, we got -
the Dejarik critters, Ganner, Lord Hoth
So I'm happy. And I've already preordered all the single figs I want on T and T (not making the same mistake I made last time with Dark Times and A'Sharad Hett).
I'm still curious to see what the guys over SWMGamers come up with for virtual sets too, though I personally haven't much cared for the direction they're going so far.

Based on my son's luck in the past, this will happen to him. Which of course means I will have to let him play my pulls, and I take his I like the set so far. The Jedi Instructor is great, even though he will make Yobuck even nastier than he already is...

Well, I think one has already proven himself as a designer, totally revamping the Starship game.
And that there is an actual playtest team helps things tremendously.

Well I dont kmow about you guys but when i started playing the game i didnt know who the heck Darth Bane was i just knew that one-on-one he was THE BEAST! Thisprovoked me to look him up and then become a fan of his book series. Same goes for Revan, Cade and a bunch of the rest. I just played their mini and was like this guy is sick. I wonder what else he did? All in all I think Wotsy could have done a better job with set lists but they did make a killer game and some good fans.
P.S. Also know that I had only seen the movies before i became a minis fan and now i am practicaly a geek!

I wanted Ewok Diety. Best piece out there, no. But it is fun and has a great sculpt.

And that there is an actual playtest team helps things tremendously. I'm not really familiar with who's comprising the design team. I was bopping around the customs thread though and somebody had made a Ko Sai with an ability to bring in more than one Unique character. I thought it was pretty broken and not that great an idea and I got the cold shoulder when I tried to discuss it, so I stopped paying attention. The voting on the virtual set was leaning towards a lot of characters I didn't much care about either...I guess it's probably just a personal opinion, but I was hoping we were going to see more updated figs (a useable Nien Nunb, Dr. Evazan, Ponda Baba, etc) than uc/c's as uniques - or at least a balance between the two.
