When it says move their speed what does the mean?

It it they can move up to twelve squares (or more depending on speed X)
Can they move 6 and attack? I've always been confused about what "their speed" entailed

Default speed is 6. If you move more than 6, it is a move + move. This is not an action or turn. It is purely a free move outside of the start of turns.

Alright so i can move up to six with intuition, but i can't attack correct?

Correct. It is just a move.
