Lift
Glossary Text

Instead of making its normal attack or attacks, this character can move an adjacent Small or Medium ally to another space adjacent to itself. The lifted character cannot be moved into a space occupied by another creature or through walls. Lifted creatures do not provoke attacks of opportunity.

I read this glossary to mean that the lifted character must remain adjacent for the entire move, and a clear path through adjacent squares must be available. You can't just lift a piece overhead and set it down on the other side. If a wall is on one side of you, and characters are occupying squares on the other side, you cannot reach that space.

It other words, the lifter picks up a character, rotates, and sets it back down.

Agree? Disagree? How do others play these pieces?

Not quite... thanks to FlyingArrow for this:

In the case of Heavy Lift on a Large character with Rigid it cannot pass through a 1 square door that it would not otherwise be able to move through.

Note: Rigid is not in effect in sanctioned tournament play per the floor rules

I've always played that you could move to any adjacent square but I guess that is not always possible.

Weakens lift slightly but the current glossary wording makes that unavoidable

I don't see how it weakens lift at all. Since you can move through the square containing the lifting character, you can still get to any adjacent square.

C = character to be lifted
L = Liftee
E = enemy
F = final desired landing spot
W= wall space
X = free space

So the final desired landing spot is not possible if you can't move through a space with another character in it when lifting (which the current glossary specifically states you can't). The corner prevents a diagonal move and the enemy prevents moving through his space. It becomes an unreachable space as a result.

If lift ignores characters (which is how i've always played it) then the space is possible, however that's not how the ability works as described unless the "may not move into spaces occupied by other characters" is meant to be "may not end its move in spaces occupied by other characters".
