Does Decoy get around the targeting rules?
I'm envisioning a situation where Urai Fenn (who has cloaked) uses his Zann Consortium Decoy to swap with an ally being targeted, and now the attack goes away because he's not a legal target. Or because the ability says "this character becomes the target of the attack," does that mean that you ignore abilities that would normally not allow the enemy to target?
I'm guessing my shenanigans should work, because it's pretty basic that any time an ability uses the word "target," the targeting rules apply. But I could see it going the other way.
Thoughts?

Decoy gets around targeting rules.
The decoy replaces the other character as the 'target', but the targeting step has already happened when it is triggered.
It does not get around abilities that prevent attacking. (ie Diplomat)

For those who want more detail, here is the resolving effects in an attack list: http://www.bloomilk.com/Forums/default.aspx?g=posts&t=10805Targeting happens in step 2. Decoy happens in step 3. Decoy's glossary explicitly says that the new character "now becomes the target instead, even if it normally would not be a legal target due to abilities such as Stealth." The phrase "now becomes the target instead" makes the character the target without using the targeting rules (which were used in step 2).

So if you somehow had a decoy with diplomat, you could still hit it because a diplomat "Isn't a legal target if there is another target" but we have already bypassed targeting at that point??

If an enemy without Diplomat is in line of sight of the acting character, that character cannot target or attack an enemy with Diplomat, even one that is adjacent. If an enemy without Diplomat is in line of sight and the only adjacent enemy has Diplomat, no legal target is available. See bold text. Decoy gets around the targeting issue, but the restriction on attacking it is not affected.

right, i did notice that after, and then it makes sense... but if you are going that far, just base them with your diplomat and then they cant target anything anyways lol
