Good question.

From the rulebook: "Characters with the Melee Attack special ability, or characters who deal no damage, cannot use or benefit from combined fire."

LST is a non-melee attack made on your own turn. It ignores Melee Attack, but the character still has Melee Attack. So which of those takes precedent in regard to combining fire?

...

Answer is in the FAQ. No, you cannot combine fire with a Lightsaber Throw. Although the character is making a nonmelee attack, they still have the Melee Attack special ability.

So would the same be said for characters with the blaster abilities?

Yes. As the character still has Melee Attack, you cannot combine fire with them.

This brings up another issue, Can you combine fire with a character that does not have the Melee attack special ability, but is making a melee attack. IE: Kelborn, Genoharadin.
