would bodyguard take an opportunist damage boost if the character he's defending was not activated when hit, but the bodyguard was?

Bodyguard simply transfers the damage over, the attack is still against an unactivated opponent, so it wouldn't change.

Think of it like this:
The attack is made, potential damage is calculated. The target is hit by the attack. The bodyguard can take the damage, and only the damage, dealt.

definition of BG is for DAMAGE, so I don't think jolt would apply

You can bodyguard a Disintegration because it says so in the glossary definition of Disintegration. http://www.bloomilk.com/SpecialAbility?Id=36On its own, bodyguard only transfers damage from attacks.
