As you may be able to tell by looking at my collection, I got down sized to a lower paying job a year and a half ago. My collection hasn't recovered since.
I am however expecting some birthday money in the next 2 weeks that should be enough to buy a case or a few VERY strong single figures. What should I get and more importantly WHY? Here are the options in alphabetical order.
a - Clone Wars b - Dark Times when it comes out c - Galaxy at War d - Imperial Entanglements e - Jedi Academy f - KOTOR g - Singles, Hand Picked Singles for roughly $100 to $125.
I prefer Rebels and Imperials, but I feel like I have too many rares from IE to make it worth it. I don't see the big draw to Dark Times, but maybe that is because I didn't do EU from that timefram much. Clone Wars would offer the good Rex plus GGDAC among others. KOTOR looks decent, but I already pulled Kreia, Juhani, and Obi Padawan for VRs. I bought a few rares from JA already as well.
As you can see, I am confused and want the advice of the Bloomilk family. Thanks in advance.

I'd say it depends on what you are rebuilding your collection for. If you are trying to build a faction up for play I say just go with singles althought that may mean staying away from some of the high priced minis which you could get lucky and pick up if you get the right case. As far as factions go it looks to me like IE is for Rebels/Imperial, CW and GaW are for Republic/Seps, and the other three have a smattering of everything in them.

Imperial Engtanglements and GAW are both the most balienced of their respective sets, GAW has a generally pretty solid cast of rares and very rares (one exception being Vadd, but can't be perfect every time. :P) Meanwhile
Imperial Entanglements offer the best support for Imperial and Rebels at this moment in time (Yeah, as much as I like Dark times, I feel most of it's stuff builds on the Rebel/Empire theme, or rather Republic/Imperial theme then brings anything that is actually needed to the table, aside from solid Imperial mid-cost beatstick. Nice, but mostly not that nessiary, you could live without them if forced to)
Generally, it depends what you want to go for, both are solid sets, the former having only 1 dud VR (even the fringe VR is pretty fun.) and a pair of outclassed rares (Ventress is the bane of my life, Grevious is alright, but really is outclassed by his VR previous version) but generally and the latter having two dud very rares (CP3-0, and the worst moff in Star Wars history, that I can't remember his name. And I have him!) But offering incredable pieces for their respective faction, Mouse Droids and Dash Randar, the most splashable shooter in the game and a new Thawn and Palpatine. Along with more Rebel commando support, with Luke with lebvitation.
If you have really focused interests though, it may be worth just buying them, but assuming you brought none of the formentioned cases, may well be worth getting all the commons and uncommons you could ever need for the set.

I love seeing the justification from each of you, but it appears the options are even more endless than I previously labelled thanks to Da Beast (though I actually thought about it since I don't have Boba or Jango).
Keep them coming.
P.S. It appears the Mrs. is leaning towards a case option since it nets more figures and has good upside.

If you are a Rebel/Imperial player, the best cases for you would be IE, Alliance and Empire, or Universe. Legacy works as well, though that is a very diverse set.
Singles generally are the best way to go if you are only focusing on a few factions and already have a good base of figs to build on.

i agree with the case idea. It is usually the most cost effective idea. unless of course you have a lot of the set.

I would go with some singles. With the prices of the pieces in the new sets, it seems like the best idea to me, and guarantees that you won't get stuck with a bunch of crap. Cases are nice, but a lot of those pieces aren't very useful. Singles let you get what you want, and it can be from all sorts of different sets.

I personally would go with singles unless you enjoy/can win with teams that involve lots of fair-to-midling C's & UC's, but I think usually you have to go with what the Mrs. says to ensure that you can fight your tabletop battles in peace ;).

As a rule, I usually don't let a Mrs. (or Ms., in my case) tell me what to do, and as another rule I'm often single.

There is certainly a trade off. I find more pros than cons.

My birthday is a week away and I am leaning towards an IE case since I only have Leia, Bounty Hunter for VRs.
Any last minute thoughts?
