To support my burgeoning hobby of SW Miniatures, my mom is giving me enough money to buy 3 boosters online. My question is: what should I buy? The website I'm looking at has the following boosters for the price I'm willing to pay:

Clone Wars
Knights of the Old Republic
Imperial Entanglements
Jedi Academy
Legacy of the Force
Alliance & Empire

I haven't decided what type of squad I'd like to start working on, I just want to get more pieces before I figure that out. That said, and with the Collection I already have, what do you guys recommend? I *could* mix and match, but I was just wondering if there was a consensus pick amongst these sets. Thanks!

I would go for Knights of the Old Republic, Legacy of the Force, and Imperial Entanglements.

It really depends upon the faction you like to play. Mixing it up might leave you without enough to make a decent squad. Bounty hunter is a nice set even though it is not in your list. You would have a shot at some nice fringe figs that can go into any squad build.

Given your modest collection and limited funds, I'd recommend buying singles instead of boosters. For instance, about a week or so ago I purchased 5 good rares and 2 common minis for $15 shipped--the msrp for a booster. Over the last year I also bought minis for some decent starter squads for my friends at the cost of about $15/squad. With the money you have (around $35-$40, I'm guessing), you should easily be able to buy enough good minis to create a couple of competitive squads if you plan your purchases carefully. Three random boosters probably won't get that for you. Here are some hints for buying singles:

1. Use bloomilk to create the squads you want to build before buying any minis.
2. Get ideas on what minis to use by searching the 'Character Rating' and 'Squad Ratings' sections on Bloomilk.
3. Commander effects are powerful, but range restrictions can kill a squad. While figures like Mas Amedda and mouse droids extend commander effect ranges, they are expensive and hard to find. Thus try to create squads with commanders that have commander effects with unlimited range (Thrawn Mitth'raw'nuruodo's Opportunist commander effect, General Wedge, General Rieekan, General Crix Madine, Moff Nyna Calixte, General Yularen, Queen Amidala, Republic Commando Training Sergent, Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor, Qui-Gon Jinn Jedi Trainer, Ithorian Commander, etc.). You can sort the 'Commander Effects' section of Bloomilk to see commanders with unlimited range CEs.
4. Focus your purchases on inexpensive rares, uncommons, and commons. If you buy a VR, make sure it's versatile or gives your squad a lot of bang for the buck. For instance, for Rebels you could probably grab a bunch of Elite Rebel Commandos, Crix Madine, General Dodonna, Han Solo Smuggler or Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor, Several Caamasi Nobles, and a Commando Strike Team Leader for about $15. And You'd still have enough to buy a great VR like General Rieekan for $20, if you like.
5. Build on what you already have. In other words, I'd probably recommend you build up your Rebel, Republic, and/or New Republic Factions. Good squads can be built for all three without spending an arm and a leg.
6. Shop around for one site with all or most of your needs at cheap prices.

I agree with Rabid Wookiee, go with singles. Boosters are fun to buy on the fly at the store, but can be a crap-shoot online.

If you do get boosters, I'd suggest Legacy of the Force and/or Imperial Entanglements and/or Alliance & Empire.

I checked you haves, and you need more pieces to help with any squad.

Wookie has got the right idea, especially as a new player it's the way to go. But if you are dead set on boosters, then you need to decide which team you will enjoy playing with the most. It will make it alot more fun for you, being a huge Separatist fan would have me inclined to pick up the clone wars boosters since it has some of the best pieces for their faction (General Grievous DAC, Gha Naket, IG-86, Chameleon droid, etc.) But for most well rounded there go for Legacy of the force, there are enough good fringe to make it worth your while and there is a little bit of everything in there.

If you want to collect all the minis, you need to go for the oldest Boosters, but I like to much the Imperial faction, they have a good suport of troopers, with good defense and good attack, and they could be boosted with a goiod Commanders, the only problem is that they don't have a lot of Unique Characters, is almost Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, but they compense with the colosal AT-AT, so I recomended to buy Alliance & Empire, greettings.

I agree also with wookie, i say build your squads & see what you like the best. Then pick up single mini's. On almost any site you can buy mini's from, they are cheaper than before in my opinion. & alot of sites have uc's & c's for real cheap. Now when it comes to stuff like mouse droids, alot of sites have them for $12, now some sites will have them for cheaper but i think the chances of finding them cheaper are hard because usualy people buy them right up, so in the case with mouse droids, in my opinion i say your better off buying IE boosters instead of mouse droids for $12. Figure for an extra 3$ you have the chance of getting a mouse droid, VR/R & a bunch of other Uc's & C's.

Legacy, I have found is a great set. You have a far better chance of pulling VR's in that set then any other it seems to me.

I agree completely which i forgot to mention what i think the best set is to buy, i think out of all the sets that Legacy of the Force & Knights Of the Old Republic are the best boosters to buy IMO. Reasons why i just think that whatever VR/R you might pull, you get your money's worth also with the Uc's & C's. You can get pretty much some good pieces from all factions out of them. LOTF has great fringe same with KOTOR. Sith Pieces in both are good. i just think they are all around the best sets to buy if your getting started & wanna get boosters instead of singles.

I wouldn´t buy a 40 piece set booster, because if u get a R u lost your money because u can get them 4 nothing and if u buy a case once u´ll get them all. i would go for the older sets.
