I may have missed it but I don't see where GOWK is banned. I only see the change to Soresu Style Mastery.

Oh, wow. Didn't know GOWK was gonna be back(!?):

Soresu Style Mastery
Soresu Style Mastery only affects non-melee attacks in DCI-sanctioned tournament play.

EDIT: And I'm a little sad that BF, BH isn't back in DD. I thought he was just gonna lose Disintergration for that format. That would have been nice.

Still it's pretty sensible. GOWK isn't gamebreaking now that he can be shanked.

It's also neat that Rigid's been completely abolished instead of just for Sealed Play.

Does that mean we can use the General Obi Wan figure from the clone wars starter set?

The rigid thing is a bonus. Maybe I will actually play ATSTs now that they can get out of small doors.

Yes, now GOWK is back for DCI, but with a changed Soresu Style Mastery.

Not sure what you meant but Huges still require at least a two square wide door.

When figures squeeze through doors they can only squeeze through doors half their size, rounded up.

VERY interesting. Can't say I'm terribly pleased about the change to SSM, as it makes Dooku of Serreno completely useless now. But it makes sense in order to bring GOWK back from banned status, and to keep Flobi from being too powerful.

I too am surprised about no change to Boba for DD, but perhaps the discussions regarding that came too late in the process for Dean to submit something different.

Definitely nice to see Rigid taken away altogether. Remember though, Huges will still need 2 square wide doors in order to get out of places. Really helps open up a few maps for use at 200 points though. Almost no map will be a problem there now.

I should have been more specific, I meant smaller doors than they are. Not small doors as in only one square big. My bad.

Maybe Serenno is next on the "update style" deal? I think it should be something like "this character's melee attack cannot be prevented or redirected".

Could be. My favorite still would be that MSM keeps adjacent people from using their Styles at all. That way, if Dooku is fighting GOWK, anybody could shoot GOWK because he's too busy dealing with Dooku.

I'd actually add both; it's not like Serenno's on the threshold of Tier 1 or anything. :-p

How was Flobi too powerful? Now I wonder if He's worth his cost. Still good I suppose, but ruining one piece to legalize another wasn't worth it. It also killed an entire ability for anyone else who may have had a chance at having it.

Nope, I never thought Flobi was too powerful, but there were others out there that felt that way a little. And his mere presence still pushed out a few things here and there. Pieces that have only a single attack (like, new Zuckuss, Elite Sith Assassin, etc.) were always at a disadvantage against anybody with SSM. At least with the new changes, pieces with Melee Attack and only a single attack, can really be useful against either Flobi or GOWK. Before the change, Flobi would still walk all over stuff with only 1 attack.

I also agree, 66 points seems a bit much for Flobi, but the options that are out there to utilize his CE are pretty impressive. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time we got a piece that was too-overcosted to be totally useful. If Flobi ends up going the way of Luke Jedi Master I'll be quite surprised. I'd put Flobi in more of the GMLS-type category now. Maybe a bit overcosted, but still very good at what he does. Just have to build the whole squad around him, and probably only useful at 200 points (which, Flobi was not really that great at 150 before now anyways).

It will be nice to be able to consider GOWK again for my competitive squads now.

No way Flobi goes the way of Luke JM. He has far more staying power. I still like the idea of Flight + Surprise Move. That's a nasty combo.
