So, I am watching tv... *gasp* And this commercial comes on for something called Carbonite.com... Doesn't Lucas have that term trade marked? Let me know if youre privy to this info... So we can call his team of Jedi Lawyers to attack! lmao I just though it was funny!

The difference is that 'carbonite' is a word that was in use in the english language prior to its use in Star Wars. It's a kind of explosive.

The '-ite' implies a compound with oxygen. Pencil lead, aka graphite, is pure carbon with no oxygen. The name graphite precedes modern naming conventions and is derived from a Greek word meaning 'writing' or 'drawing'. Graphite is the most stable form of pure graphite, so no boom. It doesn't even burn easily.

So heres what we do, we get a bunch of pencil lead, melt it, and put someone in it, and then freeze it with them inside. Voile! Han Solo is here.
