I'm thinking about getting a hold of [General Veers, Hologram] and was wondering how effective you guys think he is. [Fire Control Mission] seems like a good special ability but is very reliant of saves of 6, seems a little unreliable but can do some good damage is the dice gods are in your favor.

if used correctly, the scare factor is enough to make your opponent play vastly different than what you'd expect.

The fact that it blows clean through all forms of Stealth and SuperStealth (and Cloak as well, I believe) can also be extremely powerful in the right circumstances.

If you use a shadow stormie then you opponent will have a hard time getting rid of the hologram. If you use Moff Nyna then it would be almost impossible. There are a lot of Cad/Nyna Squads out there so it shouldn't be hard to fit a shadow stormie and the hologram in one.

Trick, Drac, and Frog all pointed out very valids points about Veers; listen to them.
The intimidation of the potential 60 damage will affect your opponent. Ignoring cover gives you great flexibility in determining your target. Yes, the save is only 6 so your opponent fig(s) most likely will only take 10 damage, but you can pick off the low point figs or ping away at the high HP figs.
It's a fun fig to play with, not against.

Thanks guys - I think I'll try him out. I'm planning on using him with the 501st Legion Stormtroopers, Thrawn, and Vader, Imperial Commander and a shadow stormtrooper or scout trooper. I think that work well.

I think that work well. If the only reason you're including the shadow/scout is for Veers, I would go with the Scout. FCM replaces turn, so the extra attack and damage (and cost) of the Shadow is a bit of a waste.

gotta do some nasty 30 defense in cover stormies. add the felucian stormtrooper officier. with those others.
and yes your opponent will play in a very different way.

I've enjoyed using it on many occasions. He guarantees that the 5 point storm with a +4 attack will hit something for 10 damages, at the minimum.

In high point games I like the idea of using him with Nyna, stealthy troopers, and even Thrawn for use as a sweeper. By using Thrawn you should be able to give a trooper Fire Control Mission and move another figure into position and the next turn swap in the bomber and then let things rip. Sure a lot of things can make the save but you still deal 10 damage which can be very devestating to a horde of activation mooks such as Mouse Droids.

Keep in mind also a mouse droid can broadcast Veers' CE but Mas doesn't.
So you can pull off a swap and the give the fresh trooper the CE via the mouse or Veers' himself.

So you can pull off a swap and the give the fresh trooper the CE via the mouse or Veers' himself. I will add to this by saying, perhaps most importantly - remember his limitation. He "dies" if he has to activate and there is no trooper within 2 squares. Guard that trooper well! You can lock them in a room together and just use mice to spread his CE to the other troopers.

I tested the squad against a rebel squad. Fire Support Mission is a great ability. Especially after a Thrawn swap. I did 60 Damage to Boba and hit Han twice with it for 70 damage.
