I just am curious to see what peeps really are thinking. Please leave this thread open to where peeps stand not where they want to see the game go or what there feelings are about the proposals in other threads. BTW thanks Shinga this site has enhanced the fun lv and has got many people to join SWM in the middle of nebraska!

I'm just going to continue collecting and playing at the moment. I only have like 60% done, so I have plenty of time before I start to crave new figures.

IMO, i relaly dont know what I should (or would) do ATM.

1st off, as for selling my minis, im considering it. the game isnt that big around my area here, and i only have 1 playing partner.

2nd, i dont know about waiting for a lisence. waht if there IS no new license...what then?!

3rd, i dont think i would play with virtual sets. sure virtual sets are nice, but since they are "virtual" that means they can easily be edtied...not sure if this is a bad thing but i dont think id like it. all games (IMO again) need mistakes, if it was the "perfect" game i wouldnt play it ;) EVERY game needs loopholes lol :P

4th, collecting/filling out sets isnt going to be so easily. why? well, first off it would cost more than $1000 (more like 3000 IMO)...finding/trading pieces isnt so easy, and especially since WOTC isnt supporting SWM anymore, that means that boosters will no longer be produced, thus the gmae will literally "go into the vault".

last, playing with orig. stat cards. id ont know waht this quite means, but im supposing that we just leave the game as it is and play it like that. i dont know if i like this option either. ive alwasy liked new figures, as it keeps the game "fresh" and stops current meta and changes it-slightly or majorly.

anyways, in conclusion IMO i think i might just play it koo for now and see what happens as MOTF comes out :) then i might make a hard decision then ;)

I'm gonna keep playing. And while I'd love to be involved with what Dean and the guys are doing, I'm gonna wait a bit and see how roles are defined in the next stage, and see where I fit. However they have a lot of ideas that I am very keen on. But in the mean time, I will continue to collect and play, and then play soem more.

I will continue to collect and play casual games. I havent played DCI in a while an dont intend to so virtual card sets with out minis has little interest for me. I also like the minis for roleplaying. I have been playing D&D minis and star wars minis since the beginning and D&D minis has been through some hard times but is now better than ever that WOTC is not involved in making stats. The DDM Guild has done an awsome job of developing the game and expanding it. We still struggle to keep the game alive though it seem like more and more local scenes are drying up for both games. The poor economy is the significant factor here. But Atleast they have official D&D Minis to create stats for. I would like to support this type of development for the game going forward but Im not sure the licencing issues will make it practicle. I will say one of the best parts about WOTC not making stat cards for their D&D minis is that they are all avaiable online. There are some great tools to print out warbands. That is the one thing I hated about SWM is digging out all the cards I needed each wek and refiling them. I have to say it's been great and I'm still glad we get anohter set and RPG book before its all done.

HeroClix was picked up and the game was not changed at all. In fact, my cousin said it is better now because the new company doesn't try changing rules but just keep pumping out sets.

I plan to continue playing as normal. I will most likely stick to local stuff and more than likely play casually rather than competitively when there is nothing on the shelves for prize support to buy into. I will wait to see how things go by the end of the year.

I plan to continue creating/playing mass battles and scenarios. [shameless plug: SWM Battles] I enjoy getting together with friends and playing the themed squads (melee only, bounty hunters, etc). I plan to pull out the modding tools again to make those pieces I did not get. I had been doing that, but often made uniques that came out in future sets, but don't have to worry about that now.

Basically, the only thing that will change for me (besides the extra money every few months) will be the lack of expectations and hypothesizing about future pieces and ability interactions. The game play won't be too different since I enjoy pulling out the old pieces once in a while and doing what I can with them to compete. We don't do much high-level competition anymore, so it works well for me.

I plan to continue to enjoy DT (great set, BTW, shame it has been overlooked on the boards this week) and look forward to one more release. For me, it is better to know it is the last one in advance, than the empty feeling of being told that was it and you missed it after it happens.

I will take this time to collect all the VRs I am missing and experiment with new ideas for teams. Will continue to play this game regardless of if they never make any more. If someone continues the game as is officially I'm in, otherwise I will keep playing with the old pieces and looking for some new teams. Long live SWM

Since the game isn't completely finished just yet, Dark Times just came out and Masters of the Force is still to come, I'm going to enjoy the game for now. I'll definitely give the virtual sets a try and keep my fingers crossed that another company picks it up.

For those who enjoy playing the game, either in high level competitive tournaments, or in local tournaments (which are often just as "competitive" as anything we might call "high level"), the game will continue for a long time. The Virtual cards will go a long ways to keeping it fresh, interesting, and fun. We also get the chance to fix a lot of the "issues" that naturally develop over the years with any game that runs this long as well. I know it all looks grim at the moment, but stick it out, having the players in charge can be a very very good thing in the long run. Look what we have been able to do, when all we had access to were the DCI floor rules for example.

If we backed up to the GOWK issue of last year, it would have been so simple if the players were in charge. Rather than the issue be ban or not ban, we could have gotten the errata done right away. Just an example, so don't dwell on it. Another will be custom maps. Some of our best maps were created not as WotC official products, but as fan maps, or privately. Eventually we might be able to make these playable for tournaments! As it is, we will be using some for the mystery map event at Gencon 2010!

Anyways, I look forward to the times ahead, because they will be a great time to actually play the game. Many of the issues that have caused players to quit over the years can finally be dealt with (if needed). Further, we will have a lot of fun making new cards and stats, and trying it all out. And here's one that I don't think I've seen mentioned before. How about the winner of Gencon being able to make their own mini! If and when we are allowed, I think a prize like that will be an option.

Further, we have a lot more control of RPG stuff going forward. That is often forgotten, but RPGs tend to flourish once the official support ends. The players (who generally know the issues better anyways) have less legal issues to publishing support products and supliments. Producing additional material is much easier as well. And considering the responses by many of the community, and some of the product suppliers, we won't be lacking in product support any time soon.

I think something that many people are forgetting is the following:

WOTC is not stopping production on the miniatures sets. I'm sure most of you would respond with "What are you smoking? Haven't you read anything??"

And I will respond with this: WOTC has ALREADY stopped production on all of their sets except for Masters of the Force. They aren't continuing to produce Dark Times boosters up till August or whatever. They stopped making those boosters several months ago, in time to get them shipped across the world for the release.

The way WOTC works is like this. A new set comes out, they produce an abundance of product. At some point, typically a couple years down the road, WOTC has considered doing 2nd print runs of certain sets. This happened with Clone Strike, where they did another printing in late 2007 or 2008 (can't remember for sure which it was). There are only a couple of sets that have EVER had a 2nd printing done.

A&E was rumored to get a 2nd printing at some point, which would be on round bases, but it never happened. Why? Because the initial stock of A&E can still be found places.

I say all of this to point out that there won't be a shortage of miniatures anytime soon. In a quick search around the net, Clone Strike seems to be the only thing I can't quickly find. However, I know my one LGS still had some CS boosters on the shelf not too long ago. I'm sure there's still some out there if people want to track them down. The great thing is though, people can just buy the last 4-5 sets and still keep up pretty well overall. Plus, add the Vsets to that list, and we'll be perfectly set (especially since that would likely allow a player to use, for instance, an Ugnaught Droid Destroyer as a proxy piece for an Ugo Demolitionist anyways).

So, to say that soon people won't be able to buy boosters is kind of silly IMO. I'm quite sure that we'll still be finding boosters on the shelves several years from now.

I have already been making custom pieces anyway, so once the game is discontinued, I will just keep moving forward with that. I mean, the game is great, but most of the pieces in any given set don't get used too often anyway. I like the quality of the sculpts and cards, which I will miss, but they weren't making the pieces I really wanted to see. I hope the game gets picked up by another company, but I won't hold my breath. I never played in the tournaments, so it's always just been about my friends and me enjoying a good game.
