WotC decided not to renew their license with LucasFilm on SW Minis, but they are able to come out with an entirely new SW game? There is no way that this is cheaper than it would be to continue the Minis line.

that's HIGHLY debatable

while the figs are indedd upwards of $8.00 (certan markets see higher price points)
they ALREADY controll the production and distribution of Action figures which has been a staple of the Hasbro(ne:Kenner) company

WotC isn't making this game, Hasbro is. The important distinction is that Hasbro already makes these figures, and were not planning on stopping. So the only thing extra they have to make is the dice, rules, cards, etc. The most expensive part, the plastic, is already being done.

I don't like this idea at all though. It will probably be more focused on kids, which means it will be more simplified, and will probably have a very shoddy rule set. Not to mention the bigger figures will be more expensive and harder to store.

who says WOTC isn't doing it?!

seriously

I don't think you are grasping the scope of HASBRO-
for all we know theyare simply rehashing the cards we ALREADY have (or possibly never saw...) and packaging them with the action figs

look back at SW Gamers magazine- they had a rules set down and grid maps provided inconjunction with the RCR d20 rules

WotC isn't doing it because they don't have the license to do it. I suppose you're right in that it could be a lot of WotC's work, but at the end of the day, it has to be Hasbro doing it. Hasbro still has the Star Wars license for the action figures, WotC does not have any Star Wars license.

Although I seriously doubt that it will just be SWM as we know it re-packaged and sold with bigger figures. The action figure line has always been more focused on kids, I imagine a much more simplified set of rules to go with these figures. It's like the difference between Attacktix and SWM. I see this becoming much more like the former and much less like the latter, for a lot of reasons.

Again i think the notion that it's a "kids thing" is debatable

who do you really think is buying the action figure packs in "COLLECTOR TINS"
who do you think is clearing the shelves of the sought after heros at 3:00am
and who do you think is spending $99.00 on a a Millenium Falcon palyset?

I suppose you have a point, but I'm not really talking about who will actually be buying the figures, I'm talking about who it will be marketed towards. You're right, many of those $99 Millenium Falcon playsets went to adult collectors. But it's a children's toy at the end of the day. Adults will collect children's toys, yes. Just because there are a lot of adults who buy the collectors edition Barbies doesn't mean that Barbie is a product marketed towards adults. The Hasbro action figures have always been marketed more towards children than adults, and I don't think that this will change that at all, and I also think that there will be a new rule set that reflects this.

I meant the huge expenses that come from new games is the marketing and advertising. These 'kids' that they are tailoring the game to is older now. All the younger generations that watched the Prequel trilogys are in their teens now. Only the Clone Wars animation is left to snag them. The majority of SW fans are 20 years old and higher.

wqhich is why I'm saying they are doing a BRILLIANT job of marketing
LOOK at the series of action figures AND Vehicles they are including in this:

I'm going to guess that this new game will feel like the love child of SWM and Attacktix.

Well, its cool that a new StarWars game is coming out & will be totally different in my opinion but i hope it doesnt interfere with the mini's games in what i mean is by some or most of the players dont stop playing mini's for a new game that will be producing new figures. & i hope this doesnt kill the chances of another company picking mini's up.

Im just hoping that the game sux bad so that mini's stays alive. Well maybe not sux bad but is 100% completely different & just has totally different mechanics & is more towards kids so that we keep our players.

I stopped collecting the 3 3/4" line when I started to collect the mini's. I doubt I'll get into collecting the 3 3/4" line again as they are just to expensive but I might check it out...

I stopped collecting the 3 3/4 line right before the Clone Wars came out. It used to be a challenge trying to find clones in stores, now its hard to find non-clones! Really, this game sucks, it's going to be one of those stupid "Play it anywhere!" games that will just give them an excuse to tack on couple dollars to their figs.

I hope someone pick's this game up, I stuck a lot of money into it. I don't want to have my figs collecting dust in the attic. You Know?

Exactly my point haha dude i dropped so much money on these mini's & thats why im erked at WOTC, all the people who spent so much money on Mini's just so they could drop the game. Which thats why i really believe another company will pick it up because there is alot of money to be made if promoted right, but i mainly hope it will be picked up.

As for the Hasbro game, i didnt think the 3 3/4 figures game was that good, i had a few of them it just didnt seem the be fun, then i fell onto mini's & within a matter of 5 minutes of watchin my brother play it i was hooked.
