I really enjoy playing this game and don't want it to end. In recent and not so recent events i realize that the game rules WILL not stay at it is. I am just asking from a realist point of view with no emotion that this really can go on? I personally don't think the value of the current mini's under the current mini's rule situation can keep value. So. I guess what I am asking is the Star Wars makes it clear that the mini game is a part of the future and half AZZ Hasbro attempt at salvaging something is LAME? I understand what gamers has t offer, but really is that what the peeps want to do to keep this game going forward. Peeps really like the thrill of opening up a box and maybe pulling that fig they always wanted not just downloading some new cards for the figs they allready have played with. Once again I just want the know a REAL WITH NO EMOTION if you believe SWM under the current rules will stay under the current rule format?

I barely understand what you are asking. Your sentance paragraph stucture is all over.

Star Wars minis as a game will eventrally go down, there is no mistaking that whatsoever. Eventrally the lack of actual new minis will cause those out of the virtral gaming loop to give up and it will sort of remain as a background thing, as hand me downs that will see less and less use until a company picks it up.

This is not disrespecting the project at all and I know it will greatly prolong the length and provide new maps and inspiration, just the lack of new blood will kick in eventrally. ><;

It is not totaly over, here in Germany, we have a lot of stores left wich are running tournaments and championships. I don´t think that V-Sets are the right way for me. I have a lot of friends who like this game as well and we´ll play the game for a very long time.

Again, SWCCG is still going strong 8 years out of print. The set up at gamers will keep the game going. It is so much more than V sets, but the tournament support is what will keep things kicking

I didn't realize everyone bought SWM just to open packs. Maybe the game is dead.

It's not over, and won't be for a long time. Make no mistake however, some people will leave, others will use this as an opportunity to grind their axes and get back at others, and some will pretend like they are quitting, when they quit long ago. There is always a lot of talk in these times, but as always, the long run shows who is really serious and who is all mouth. The people who love the game will be around for a long time.

I understand what (s)he's talking about in that statement. It's that moment of euphoria, the chase, the one that got away, etc. But there's also the opposite feeling, the "WTF, I pulled my 4th Ozzel! UGH!" that we get so often. It's a double edged sword...

WHilst yeah I will miss opening up boosters, I will still play on.

Lets see if I can give a good answer here. These topics are very interesting to me.

Now....with that being said let me say this: Please don't think I'm disrepsecting anyone here or else where. If you do feel that way I would ask that you BlooMail me so we can discuss what was said and the context of it, in a mature fashion. I have Vassal and Skype too if that makes things easier. Ok...now to the OP's comments/questions!

Star Wars Miniatures as we know it will die.......but not anytime soon. I'll get into this later in my post.

As far as what the good people of Gamers are doing...it seems that they are doing what the people want. Myself personally....I'm not onboard with their ideas just yet. Maybe after a year of Minis being out of production I'll give the V-Sets a good long look. Making custom pieces with my minis...thats a big no-no with me. I can't stand to cut up a piece that a new player could easily use just to make something 'cool' or 'better' or 'more cannon'. But even with my collection, there's a bunch of pieces that I have yet to play with or even attempt to make competitive. Which brings me to a good point.

Don't forget how competitive SWM actually is with some folks. As long as there is a tourney and some sort of rating system, they will be out looking for blood and the ever coveted #1 spot. (or top spot in their meta or whatever...they'll strive to be the best player is a better way of wording it I suppose) That alone will keep people playing for a very very very very very very very very long time. There's also a fun aspect to playing Minis....who knew!

And yes...I am one of the peeps that enjoys buying packs and pulling the pieces I get out of there. Even if its one I've already got, I still like it. (although Legacy hasn't been good to me...lots of Moff Ninas and General Ds)

The reality is though that SWM will 'die' someday. With nothing going on locally or unable to start-up a new group of players (or for your group to grow), lack of pieces/prize support, LGS possibly not holding tourneys since they wouldn't make money selling packs for prizes, maybe even no GenCon to go to and play at, or even people just not wanting to play for fun anymore. Will all of this happen...only time will tell. I honestly don't see any of that happening for a looooooong time. And I mean a really long time. Do I see another company picking this game up and giving it another shot? Not in the forseeable future. But again...I could be (and hope) very wrong about that.

Wanna know how to keep this game going with the current rules? (and how it can and will stay alive) And I've stressed this to my good friend.....PLAY THIS GAME! GET PEOPLE INTERESTED! BE WILLING TO TEACH SOMEONE WHO'S NEVER PLAYED BEFORE! DO SOMETHING TO KEEP IT GOING FOR YOURSELF AND FOR OTHERS IN AND AROUND YOUR AREA!! AS LONG AS YOU PLAY ITS NOT DEAD!! (please don't take that as yelling either...I'm stressing these points for a good reason)

We still have a set to go before Wizos pulls the plug, and there's literally hundreds of pieces out there to play. As long as your collection can make 2 squads (good...bad...or indifferent) you can still play and keep this game alive. Best part is..you can use whatever rules you like! I personally will still use my trusty ol' rulebook and the DCI rules when I play. I will also teach the new guys (or gals...can't forget the ladies) out of the rulebook and DCI ruleset. (and if that doesn't work, I hit up Gamers or Bloo for rules clarifications...thats one reason we have such great websites like these) And I have a feeling that there are a majority of the players here, at Gamers, and else where will agree with me on this one.

As some people have said here and else where, this is a critical time for the Star Wars Minis community as a whole. This is our time to stand up, join together, and put our stupid (yes...stupid) arguements and differences aside. If you want to see this game survive you'll do what needs to be done. Whether its downloading V-Sets, contributing to the community forums or otherwise, going to GenCon (or helping to get something like it setup), playing with your local guys and gals, making that long drive somewhere to play with others, getting new people interested, playing on Vassal, or just playing how and what you like where ever that might be. (and nobody is asking you do all of these) Anything will help keep the game going for yourself and us as a whole. (as long as it is positive)

Oh yeah...I didn't forget your big question IronLung. With no emotion I can confidently say that I will keep this game going and that it'll be around for a long time! Why? Because I'm willing to keep playing and having fun with this game.

A "peep" is a tasty sugar covered marshmallow item that are best eaten when half stale.

Wait, (s)he didn't mean that type "peep"? Must mean "people" but I prefer to think of the marshmallow one instead ;)

Maybe I'll just buy about thirty boosters to open 1 every year, That should keep the thrill alive. It seems for me though that for the last 3 and a half years I've been buying by the case. For Champions I bought 8 cases.. When I didn't get complete sets I was crying. LOL

I don't need new stuff to keep playing. I have tons of stuff and it was fun when it started and it is fun now. Why am I gonna quit just because they stop makign new stuff? As for hte V sets, I'm game to see what transpires. I like the idea of varients, especially wiht all the reposes and restats of characters why would that be an issue?

It isn't for me.
