So, general question what are you thoughts about regionals, You trying to think about something no one has tried before, or have you had your squad planed out since forever.
worried about how well you will fare. or do you think your ganna win it all. just curious.

its all in good fun. but im feeling really excited just thinking about it.

I'm thinking there will be lots of Luke Snowspeeder with Zuckuss, or GOWK with Zuckuss... but I've never played regionals so not sure what to plan for...

I'm thinking of a Rebel squad with Apprentice and Luke Hoth Pilot Unleashed with Yoda of Dagobah.

I'd started out with like 10 squad ideas and brought it down to like 4, then I edited those to better versions of them. So now I have 2 squads I'm wanting to test, I think I will better then average, but I dont think I will win all the marbles.

In Colorado Sprigns the regional will be in May, so I'm not gonna start even thinking about squads until after the final release is on the table.

I'm probably going to use the Tournament I'm going to in a couple weeks as a forum for crafting my Regionals squads. I'm pretty new to the game, and have never been to a Tournament before, so hopefully it'll give me some good ideas. I'll probably end up running New Republic or Republic though, as those are the factions I have the strongest pieces of.

A solid plan. Use what you know best

My son and I will throw a couple of squads together the week before and play each other a couple of times. Last year I played GOWK to see what all the fuss was about. This year I want to play something not usually seen. So most likely no rebel or republic squad for me.

Well, with 200 points armies, I think you can show up with something unorthodox and still do really well. Go Talz Warrior Swarm!

I think GOWK squads will get stomped by Yobuck, New Thrawn with Cad will probably stomp everything. There should be some interesting A beats B beats C.

That's what Vassal is for. Find someone on there and ask them to play a Snowspeeder squad against you. ;)

Remember though, with the new restricted map list, and GOWK back in the game, the Snowspeeder won't be quite as powerful as it was last year. Still good, but tougher to win with consistently, I think.

New Thrawn w/ Cad is still one I need to practice against. Nobody's really run that combo at all here locally. Not sure why. I think it will really struggle against some of the solid GOWK squads though, as Cad still has to get past GOWK's SSM. Plus, from the reports I remember reading/hearing about the Euro championships, the Cad squads won with a lot to do with who was running them, and how many their were. I think the people playing squads that should have had a good chance to beat Cad were just not as skilled as the guys who ended up finishing at the top. My theory anyways.

Besides, with MOTF still to come out, it's not THAT helpful to building full squads already. It's a good idea to start working on stuff, but you shouldn't nail something down 100% yet.

We've got a standard 200 pt. Constructed match at the LGS tonight, so I'm looking forward to trying out one of my ideas. We've got a couple more of those during the 2 weeks leading up to our local Regional, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of practice.

I have yet to see why people are so smitten with Cad Bane he is just too many points for doing too little. Yeah he has a lot of gimmicks but he has such a hard time hitting characters that even with some boosts those boosts can be better spent helping others elsewhere

I still think Dodonna/Cheap Evade dominates the game. Perhaps Cad/Thrawn is better than I thought...

Regardless, think it will be tough to go undefeated in the regional tourney. I think even the top players will lose one game, then battle it out in the playoffs.

Oh, no changes for me. I support the much maligned and under-represented faction. The force holes that are the mighty Yuuzhan Vong. Yep that's right. I make sure that there is a least a small bit of representation during major events (gen con champs/regionals)
