Just wondering if people think battle ready is worth the cost? When I use it, all it does is seem to speed up the game. Am I not using it properly?

It gives you the ability to effectively start the game is a superior position to your opponent. So, without trying to sound condescending or rude, yes, I would say you are using it improperly.

Not rude ant all since I genuinely am not understanding. Besides gambit, what's better about being closer to your opponent? especially if they are melee and you're all shooty?

I would say so you can get your shooters into good positions earlier which will reduce your opponents safe advancement options.

In some ways it does feel like a bit of a prototype for Resol'nare - I know that the Mando Training Sergeant brings other things to the table too, as does Kelborn, but Kelborn seems like the much stronger piece overall.

I agree about that assessment whole heartedly TheHutts. Think about it this way, Battle Ready allows you to move 12 at the start of the skirmish whereas Resol'nare allows your pod around Kelborn to move up to 6 at the beginning of each round. You need two rounds to equal that max distance of extra movement, which you frequently aren't attacking round 1 anyway. The every round movement is far superior.
In addition, Kelborn is not only cheaper than the Training Sergeant but he is a far better attacker than the MTS who only has melee. Kelborn is not a Commander even though he acts like one and is therefore subject to the Mando Captain's Twin. He certainly isn't the strongest of Mando attackers but he synergizes so much better.
